I went to day for my first appointment with Dr. Russell. It went very well........I was really nervous about what he would say about my test.He said that I was OCD. Does everyone have this problem? He put me on Lexapro (I think I spelled that right). I hope that it helps me not worry so much, and maybe get some sleep at night. Does anyone else take this? Anyways he seems really nice and pinpointed me to the tee. My report did say that I was not crazy?

Dr. Russell IS very nice ... he's very easy to talk to. A little fixated on OCD, but a nice guy. I think we all took Lexapro in the beginning ... Dr. Bour explained it to me like this: As morbidly obese people, we all were dealing with some level of depression, or we wouldn't have sought out the surgery. And he also feels that it'll help us deal with the changes that occur so rapidly as we approach surgery, and afterwards. It's a low dose, and it just keeps things on an even keel as we learn a new way of life, basically. My insurance company "suggested" I switch to a less expensive antidepressant about 4 months ago, so I took generic Celexa for awhile ... for about a month, until I stopped taking it. And now I'm not taking anything, although after a visit with Dr. Russell 2 weeks ago, I'm now the proud owner of a bottle of higher-dosed Wellbutrin. I just haven't decided whether or not I'm going to take them yet ... not totally convinced I need them. Glad you made it through that round! And yay, you're not crazy! Dawn

I was shocked to also find out I was OCD. But it sure did explain alot. I've been on the Lexapro for about 2 weeks now. I really haven't noticed a big difference yet.

GOOD FOR YOU, MS AMEE ... NOT TO WORRY - WE ALL THOUGHT WE WERE CRAZY!!! YOU'LL BE SURPRISED HOW THOSE KINDS OF ISSUES BEGIN TO RESOLVE THEMSELVES & DISAPPEAR ONCE YOU START LOSING WEIGHT & REGIANING CONTROL OVER YOUR LIFE. THE TRICK IS LEARNING NEW COPING SKILLS ALONG THE WAY SO WE DON'T HOLD EMOTIONS INSIDE & WE DON'T GO RUNNING TO FOOD FOR COMFORT. NICK TEASES ME THAT I'M OCD ON CERTAIN STUFF CUZ I'M A VERY DETAILED PERSON & TEND TO ALWAYS DO MORE, MORE, MORE ... EXCEPT WHEN IT COME TO MY HOUSEWORK!!! OH MY GOSH! HAHAHAHA! I WAS ON WELBUTRIN FOR YEARS FOR SEVERE MOOD SWINGS & IT WAS WONDERFUL TO SMOOTH THINGS OUT. ACTUALLY, FOR THE LAST YEAR BEFORE SURGERY, DOC HAD ME ON LEXAPRO BECAUSE IT HAS A GREAT SIDE EFFECT - IT IS AN APPETITIE SUPPRESENT (sp?), SO YOU MAY GET AN ADDED BENEFIT IN THAT AREA AS WELL. GOD BLESS YOU ... DAWN & NICK
