Good and Bad New

Good news - I will not miss Myrtle Beach for the world. I am so excited. Bad News - I can't come up Friday, will be there Saturday morning. My mom went to MUSC Friday to have a small basel cell skin cancer removed. It turned out to be very serious. They had to remove 3/4 of her nose and the cancer had spread into her nasel cavity. What really scared me is she has never let me do anything to help her before, my parents are always helping me. When I called Friday night and found out about it, I asked if I could make her some soup and come over Sunday. She said that would be wonderful. She's never said anything like that before God is wonderful, they got all of the cancer. But mom is in lots of pain and I spent most of yesterday with her just doing laundry and straightening the house ( she is a size 8 woman who is the typical southern lady, can't stand anything out of place and her main concern is gaining weight throughout her recovery. ) So I made her weigh****chers soup and chili, but I did make her favorite, cornbread that WAS not diet. Mom can't bend over or lift. I need to spend Friday night with her then will leave EARLY Sat. morning to head to the beach. I may beg someone to share a room where we can light until they let us check in. See you all Saturday, I can't wait. Mary

Oh Mary, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. I am glad they got the cancer. My mom had the same cancer scare about 2 years ago on her cheek but it was small so they did not have to remove a lot. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your Mom. I hope she has a speedy recovery. Will see you on Sat. Julie

Oh Mary, you are such an angel. Please pass on our wishes to her for her to feel better soon. I am so thankful that they got it all. I hope you can come up early enough to go to the brunch Sat morning. We would be sad without you. It's at 11am. If you need to crash until your room is ready, just give us a hollor. Deb

((((( Mary ))))))) I'm so sorry your Mom is having to endure this. Hearing that nasty "C" word will defintely spin your world in a different direction for a while. We went through 2 bouts of cancer (breast and colon) with my Mom ... and the good news is she's still kickin' at age 76. I'm really glad they were able to get all your Mom's cancer ... she'll be on her way to feeling better soon, I hope. And how wonderful that you are nearby to be able to help her. If you think it might make her smile, please tell her there are folks all over the state thinking about her and wishing her well! It IS bad news that you won't be in MB on Friday, but it is certainly understood. Can't wait to see you on Saturday! Love ya, Dawn

Dawn, I've picked up on the fact that we are alike in yet another way, wine drinkers. I have invented a wonderful drink for us involving white wine and my magic bullet. As if I needed ANOTHER reason to look forward to seeing you!!! I don't have an answer about Dicks ... I don't even know if a decision has been made yet. If you want us to wait until Saturday night so you can join us, I'm sure that can be arranged, baby! Dawn
