Ex lurker sending invitation to all

I've been "lurking" for a while and this is not what I planned for my first post but I need your help. Every morning I exercise at the Vitality Center at St Francis Hospital. About a month ago I was invited by one of the staff to participate in this years Heart Walk. I would like to extend that same invitation to each of you. Heart disease has been a major factor in my life and has probably effected someone you know. Obesity greatly increases the risk of suffering from heart disease. If your history is like mine, this fight may be as personal for you as it is for me. This web site is about supporting each other and that's what I'm asking of you. None of us have "extra" when it comes to money, but from the many, we can all spare a little to make a big difference. WoooHooo Ken!!!! Someone is going to have to come and pick me up off the floor!!!!!!! I am so excited to see you post!! My kids are all participating in Jump rope for heart!!! They are excited about it. It was really cute to see my 7 year old telling her brother about heart disease!!! Heart disease has plagued my husbands family so it is an important subject in our house. I hope all went well with your pacemaker lead surgery, I am so sorry I did not follow up with you on that. I have been self absorbed and I apologize for not being a good friend. Welcome aboard Ken! It's so good to see your out of the shadows now. Come to the 8th floor sometime when your on the 10th working your butt off, LOL. I work every Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 AM to at least 5:30 PM, but most days I'm there till almost 7 PM. I would enjoy a visit to help break up the routine of my day. Thanks to all of you for your emotional support and your support to American Heart Assoc. if able. Please don't feel like your arm is being twisted, we all do what we can where we can. Everything went well with the lead revision except that I had a nasty head cold at the same time, a complication I didn't need. I love you all and will look forward to seeing you tonight.

Hey Ken...didn't know you were a "lurker" but glad to see you've gotten past it! I've walked in the Heart Walk the last three years...I may walk this year. I haven't decided yet. My family and I have walked the last three years in memory of my brother, Terry Williams, who died in October 2003 at the age of 47 due to a stroke and possible heart attack. Heart disease runs rampant in both sides of my family (my dad has CHF, previous quadruple bypass, abdominal aortic aneurysm, etc) which was a big factor in my decision to have the surgery (along with being scared to death of having a stroke like my brother). All this to say....I hope you do well and have a great time Saturday at the Heart walk. It really is fun and you do feel good knowing you're doing something for a good cause. maybe I'll see you there! Melanie
