Need a Little Help Here...
Ok..I hope that some of you have been through this .. it will make me feel a lot better. I know that when we have the surgery they tell us that "the problems you had before will still be there after" well it has reared it's ugly head and I'm not sure what to do about it.
The past 2 weeks have been really stressful and of course I have been using food to cope.
My only consolation is that I can only eat a quarter of a cup of food now instead of a whole bunch of food. Carbs don't seem to bother me and I stay totally away from sugar but the point is that I still eat until I'm sick. I guess I need counseling but that is an expense we really can't do right now. Does anyone have any advice?
I don't if this advice will help you but I guess it won't hurt either. Every time you want something to eat, drink as much water/unsweet tea, crystal light, etc. as you can. You will get a feeling of fullness without the guilt. You're right that whatever problems you have had before are still here. We just have to deal with them now because we have gone through a lot to make permanent changes in our lives through the surgery. Try to divert your attention to something else, drink a lot of fluids and then if all else fails, try a healthy snack. But portion it out and only eat that small portion. You could also try timing your meals. Only eat every 3-4 hours and nothing in between except fluids.
I hope this helps! If you need to talk, call me. My number is 364-0995.

Sundi,
First of all don't beat yourself up. I struggle with this every day. Susan's advice is great. Drink lots and try frozen stuff. I freeze sugar free drinks, fruit, and lots of stuff. It makes me feel like I am eating - but its good stuff. I'll be thinking about you, and I promise that it will be okay. Please let me know if you need anything!!!

Hi Sundi. Been a crazy week and was checking out some old posts tonight to see what I missed. Maybe too late to help, but I have had a problem with that too. Knowing it is a problem is half the battle. Staying away from the carbs and sugar is good too. Try to keep as many healthy snacks around as possible so you will have something to grab.
Just keep on plugging away and come to some support group meetings. Sounds silly, but just talking to people who have been through the same thing seems to help me.
Hope you are doing better.
SUsann
