I am so mad at myself...
What is wrong with me!!!
I can't even stay on a diet for 2 weeks without falling off. For my one meal today (I am on Optifast) I didn't do to good. I did some
's. I only have 8 or 9 more days on Optifast. Do you think I hurt my chances of a better recovery? I hope not. I am going to be so good until my surgery day and from then on. Why does food have to be such an enemy to me??? UGH!!!
Well, I hope everyone is doing well. Hope to see all you beautiful friends of mine on Monday.
Pam

Awww Pam! Don't be so mad at yourself, honey! You didn't hurt anything with ONE less-than-perfect meal! There is NOTHING wrong with you ... you are human, like the rest of us!
If it matters at all, I stuck to the Optifast program ... and then had all kinds of problems in my recovery! So I don't believe for a minute that you did anything to hurt yourself!
Move on from this point, sweet lady ... one meal at a time! Now go look in the mirror and say in your best Stuart Smalley voice, "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!"
See you Monday!
Love ya,
Dawn

pam!!! lol you should see my food log when i was on optifast.. lol.. one night i wrote "pizza, oops!" on there.lol michelle would just shake her head and move on lol. i wasnt very good at that part. but now pizza doesnt appeal to me, it makes me ugh to think about it, when it was my vice!!! i had a breakdown 1 week out over pizza LOL.. and now i dont even want to see it. dont be so hard on yourself, your recovery is in God's hands and hes gonna pull you through with flying colors!!!!
love ya girl!

I was less than perfect on Optifast too. I followed it for the most part, but that last week I really S-T-R-E-T-C-H-E-D it with my one meals. Don't worry. It happens to everyone. I had no complications and I really needed the diet because of my HUGE liver. Dr. Bour even commented after surgery to my husband about how large my liver was even after Optifast.
Anyway, like I told Michelle "If I could be successful on Optifast, why the heck would I even need the surgery?"
You are doing great. You'll be on the losing side soon!
Kathy

Awwe, sweetie...you are fine!! The optifast will do it's job to help shrink your liver, whether you stray a few times or not. I was lucky and did not have to do a liquid preop diet. I just did Atkins to improve my chances of having lap vs. open, since my tummy carries a lot of my weight. So I ate lots of meats and cheeses and stuff, and had a wonderful recovery!
I did cardio workouts during my preop diet...that REALLY helped me a lot during recovery. My surgeon said it made a big difference in my energy and ability to recover quickly.
You will do GREAT, Pam...doncha worry!! (((HUGS)))
Love ya~
Elizabeth
