Lexapro problems!

I took my first lexapro last night and it is the first night in a long time I have actually slept good. The problem is, I have to get up and 2:30 AM on the days I have to work, and I don't think I could have woke up if my life depended on it. Today I feel hung over and my butt is dragging. I sure hope this is a temporary feeling until my system gets use to them, if not, then I don't think I can take them and function at work. Anyone else have any problems with them and if so did it go away pretty fast? Mary

Hi Sleepy! I would guess it's a temporary side effect that will go away before too long. I didn't have any side effects from the Lexapro, but if you have any doubts, don't hesitate to call Dr. Russell or Dr. Bour and ask them. Maybe you could take it earlier in the afternoon, so that the sleepy feeling wouldn't be so strong at 2:30 AM? (I can't even imagine crawling out of bed at 2:30! Bless your heart!) Dawn

Thanks Dawn, I hope it is temporary. I did take it later than I probably should have, but I ended up having to go into work yesterday after my appointment with Dr. Bour and I worked until 7:15 PM. so I didn't get home until after 8:00. I took it after I ate supper, since he said it could cause nausea. I just don't do too well with some meds. Things like this will knock me for a loop, but my pcp had me on Ambien to help me sleep and I was up to 40 mg a night and it wasn't making me sleep. Most people take 5 mg and sleep 8 hours, not me! So he stopped giving it to me since it wasn't working and he wouldn't raise my dosage up anymore, said I was taking enough to knock out an elephant, lol. So I guess if it doesn't get any better I will call the office and let them know. Thanks again your an Hugs, Mary

Since I have a one yr old, who sleeps in her crib beside my bed lol(spoiled) and always wakes up and ends up in my bed, i cant take any medicine before bed that might make me sleep well.. So I have to take mine in the morning, and it seems to help if i take it in the am, after a few days youre not so tired during the day. it actually almost kinda jacked me up? LOL i dunno.. I started klonopin at the same time for panic attacks, and it usually knocks ppl out, so i think i have a happy medium now. But if you have to get up, i would definately not take it at night, but in the morning.. just a thought Hope it gets better!!!! Jen
