Protein
Chell, I have only just started getting full requirement of protein in since my surgery and it is Isopure Chocolate. Mix two scoops with 12oz of water and it is 50grams of protein! I split it up and do 1 scoop and 6oz of water with ice and have been able to do three of those a day for a whopping 75 grams of protein. I sip with a straw from the container I mix it in. It has really boosted my weight loss this week.
I bought mine at the Vitamin Shoppe on Harbison.
Hope that helps.

I just got some Muscle Milk tonight - Chocolate Mint Chip! It sounds SO good. I keep reading how so many people like it and I'm ready to try something new, so I took the plunge and bought a tub. I wish they had a sample size. The Vitamin Shoppe allows you to return stuff, but it would make me feel so bad if they had to throw it all away, so I hope I like it. I'll let you know.
My two favorites have been Matrix Perfect Chocolate and Protein Delite Vanilla Very Berry from the beginning - 22 months ago. I just got lucky from reading about them on this site. I've tried other things since, mostly sample sizes, and I still like them the best. I do add things to them to make them "my own recipe". I order from Bariatric Eating.com. I recommend ordering sample sizes first.
I tried New-Whey Liquid Protein that comes in the test tube, also from the Vitamin Shoppe. It's not bad, but at $2.49 a tube, it's too expensive for me to use on a regular basis.
I do lots of protein bars - mostly South Beach Diet Meal Replacement Bars, from WalMart, where I also purchase Pure Protein Bars. My new favorite is Labrada Rockin' Roll Nutty Peanut Bars from the Vitamin Shoppe. They can't keep them in stock because they're so popular. I am diabetic, so I stay very low-carb. I'm a big fan of Hood Carb Countdown , especially fat-free, which I use in my protein shakes.
I have taken biotin and borage oil from the beginning also, and lost very little hair, if any. I have lost hair in the past due to medication, so I expected it to happen again after my gastric bypass. I have naturally curly hairand love it too, and it was very traumatic for me. I've been faithful about getting my protein in - as well as all my supplements and fluids. I don't know what to attribute my hair retention to, I'm just very happy about it.
Good luck on your journey!! Love, B
