~~ Phyllis UPDATE IMPORTANT ~~

Hi Everyone I visited with Phyllis this evening and told her I would update all of you. First off, she is fine, but she had a scare very early this morning and had to go BACK into surgery! She woke to her drainage tube full of blood! Dr. Ross called in a specialist IMEDITATLY! They took her back to surgery, a staple had come loose, not sure how and she had bleeding, it was fine when they did the leak test yesterday. But They have fixed everything and they had to give her some blood also she feels much better now. She was supposed to go home tomorrow but we are wondering now because of this if they don't keep her an extra day. I'll let y'all know tomorrow as soon as I find out. IF anyone wants to call her, The hospital number is ....... 864-560-6000 .......her room number is ....... 608 ....... Continue to keep her in prayer. Dawn, Thanks for telling me about the Pure Protein drinks, I found them today at the GNC here in Spartanburg and they are $1.97 each They are pretty good, not my favorite, but for 35 grams of protein, I can live with them. Oh my goodness!!! I had no idea!! I went to see Phyllis yesterday (probably after you and Dawn, because her daughter and her family were there when I got there. I stopped by before I went to work. They had gotten her up to walk (for the first time) while I was there. She wa****ting the pump pretty hard, and was a little loopy !! I had intended to go back today, but our divisional manager came to the shop. While noone said that I needed to go in....when somebody important comes, "you" should be there. Then I got a call from my son, who woke up with a sore throat and just not feeling very good. He had to go to work and kept telling them that he felt like he was going to throw up. Well, they didn't believe him and he had to leave right in the middle of checking out a customer. He barely made it to the parking lot, where he (in true 18-year old fashion) tossed his cookies . The last time he did something like this he had strept throat....so I made him take his temp when he got home...101.5. (my baby finally needs his mommy again!!) Anyways, I got some medicine in him and if the temp is still up in the morning, I'll get him to the doctor. So....I think it would be best for me not to visit Phyllis with Danny sick. But PLEASE tell her that she is in my prayers!! I'll be waiting to hear good news about her progress!! im going to try my best to get by to see her tomorrow, but i will have my lil kassidy with me.. so it wont be a long visit! i hope she is doing better i am praying for her ! Jen

Must be a lot of sickness going around!! I am not feeling well either. I was supposed to go by and see Phyllis yesterday but I have some drainage and sore throat. DH is sick too!! Please give Phyllis my best!! Tell her I have been praying for her. Rachel

Oh no, Debra! I can't believe it. But I'm so glad to know she is feeling better. I'm assuming they did another lap procedure on her, and didn't have to do an open surgery to fix the staple. Bless her heart! Thanks for letting us know. About those protein drinks ... good grief, sounds like we need to be driving to Spartanburg to save money! I got mine for $2.39 a can at The Vitamin Shoppe. I know that the store at Dr. Bour's office sells them as well ... I'll have to check the price next time I'm there. I had the Strawberry flavor this morning ... not as tasty as the Banana was yesterday, but I got it down. Yay, protein. Love and healing thoughts to Phyllis ... Dawn

I'm so sorry to hear that Phyllis is having a bad time with her WLS. I know from working in the hospital that anything can happen, even with minor surgeries. I hate to hear when anyone has complications, but I have to keep telling myself that there are risks and not let it be something to dwell on and worry about. I will pray for her and hope she gets back on her feet and feeling great real soon. As far as the protein drinks, I'm sure hoping I can find something I will be able to tolerate, since I'm not really fond of sweet tasting drinks anyway. I have used Whey protein mixes before and found one a few years ago that was pretty good, but darned if I can remember the name of the stuff. Of course it might taste like liquid poop after surgery, so I guess it will be a trial and error thing to find one I like. I will try the Pure Protein ones to see how I like those. I'm going to search the web to see if I can find better prices on it and will let everyone know if I do. Bye for now! Mary
