Update On Moi

Just thought I'd let y'all know what's going on with me ... I saw Dr. Bour today, and we talked about my old pal - my gastogastric fistula. He said, that based on the way I'm feeling, he doesn't think it's an issue right now. He said my weight loss was on target for someone about 2 months out. (I've lost 41 pounds since surgery, 62 pounds since enrolling in Dr. Bour's program.) He was pleased with that, saying he really thinks we should sorta consider me one month out, considering that the month of June was spent in the hosptal and on IV fluids, etc. He said my height is a plus, allowing me to drop BMI points with a smaller weight loss compared to someone not as tall. At least I've got THAT goin' for me! LOL I'm going for another Upper GI on August 22, just a few days before my 3-month follow-up appt., so that we can discuss the results at that office visit. He said there are many options if the test shows it's still fistula-ing (I made up that word!) ... and even a new technique or two coming in the fall. He said he's looking forward to learning about a new procedure which involves using a scope down the throat to actually stitch an opening closed again. Also, something about a fiber-glue used with a scope to stick things back together. So there's all kinds of possibilities that don't involve surgery. Yay! He said as long as my weight continues to drop at the rate it's going now, and as long as I'm in no pain, one more option may be to do nothing at all. So I guess we'll know a lot more after the 22nd. (The highlight for me: Chris. He came in to hi to me. I'm old enough to be the boy's Mama, but he makes me want to be young again. Don't tell anybody, 'k? ) Dawn

Hey You , After aaaaaaaaaall you've been through I'm sooooooo happy to hear your doing so well , and relieved to know that you have options concerning the fistula if it's still fistula-ing at test time (boy that was a mouthful) CONGRATULATIONS Sweetie!!! 41 lbs since surgery is awesome!! Remeber we count everything so 62 lbs ...even more AWESOME!!! As far as Chris is concern...yes my Dear, he is a cool drink of water on a HOT day!!! Hey Tonya! LOL There's so many typos in my post, I'm surprised y'all could make out what the heck I was talking about! I'm sooooo glad we count everything ... because the "62 pounds" was a typo! It should read "63 pounds"!!!! Every pound counts! I am about 25 pounds away from weighing less than my husband for the first time in about 25 years! Of course, he's losing weight now too, so I may have to bake him a cake or something. (Just kiddin' ... kinda.) Love, Dawn

LOL Susanne! Chris graduated from Clemson when my son was a sophomore there, I think. So that makes him in the "just under 30" age range. Sad part is, he's happily married. Still though ... verrrrrry easy on the eyes! ('Specially when I'm wearing my new progressive lenses.) Dawn
