Ok Dr. Bour's patients: My husband and I are planning to take a road trip to Nashville, TN on October 21-23 to see USC play VANDY. I want to ask Dr. Bour on Wednesday when I have my consult with him if it would be possible to have my surgery scheduled for early september so I can be on solid foods when we are traveling. I would hate to still be in the liquids phase!!! Ok so the prob would be....my insurance packet has not gone out and I don't have approval yet. IF I wait on approval from the insurance I will not have time to do the 4 weeks optifast. Not to mention how slow they have been about getting pam's insurance packet out. Do you think he would let me schedule the surgery w/o approval and start optifast? I don't really know how to approach the situation with him. Any pointers would be appreciated!! I know Tonya only did like 7 days optifast. If I wait on insurance approval all of the september dates may be taken!!! Please advise. I really want to enjoy the trip with my hubby. We only do this once a year. Rachel

I doubt he will schedule surgery without approval unless you plan to pay cash if the insurance doesn't approve. His program is pretty regimented. It wouldn't hurt to ask though. Kathy

You could start the Optifast hoping that the insurance approves by the time you finish your four weeks. Just a suggestion.
