First appointment!

Hey everyone! I just had my first appointment at Bariactric Soulutions on the 21st. I had to take that looooong test to see if I'm sane enough to have the surgery, I sure hope I pass it! They gave me appointments to see the nutrisionist and both doctors, but, I had to change them due to my work schedule at the hospital. I hate it because now it will be more toward the end of August before they can get me in on the days I need. I am already so anxious that I can't sleep at night, so I hope everything goes fast after that. I'm paid in full and they said my insurance gives approval pretty fast, so I guess it's just a waiting game. I'm going tomorrow night for one of the six classes we are required to take, so I hope these will keep me busy and help make the time go by faster. I'll keep everyone posted on my progress and hope to meet some of you at the support meetings. Everyone take care and wish me luck on my journey to my WLS. Mary H.

Congrats on getting the process started. I am still in the pre-op stages with Dr. Bour. I took the psych test and met with Dr. Russell and the Nutritionist. I will be at the pre-op meeting tomorrow. Congrats and best wishes..... Rachel

Hey Rachel, congrats to you too. Its nice having people respond on here, giving encouragement and most of all being in the same boat as I am, so that they understand how I feel. It would be nice to meet you at one of the meetings, so I will look for you at one of the others in the future. I was there at the meeting tonight ( I had hospital scrubs on and was sitting in the 3rd row in the middle), Carol, who gave the presentation looked awsome, gives me the hope of getting back to the size I was in high school (size 3). I weighed tonight and felt like throwing up, this is the heaviest I have ever been in my life, weighing in at 242.4 pounds. But , I know in my heart there is light at the end of this tunnel. Just to get out of pain and off some medications will be wonderful. I had almost all the same problems Carol was telling us she had, sleep apnea, for which I have used a c-pap for the past 7 years, GERD, back problems, knee problems and fibromyalgia. I am also hoping to get a surgery date sometime late September to early October. I wish you all the best and hope everything goes fast for you too. Take care and keep in touch! By the way, we are game**** fans too, GO ****S!

I was the one on your left that kept asking all the questions. I was the one in the purple shirt and jean capris. Leave it to me to be the talker!! Glad to find another game**** in the crowd. We game****s have to stick together. Sounds like we might be having surgery around the same time...maybe we can stick together and watch some carolina games together since we won't be able to go to many. I am sure my husband will still go. NOTHING stands in the way of him and the game**** football games. We couldn't even have a fall wedding because we were scared we would pick a date that would conflict with the USC football schedule! You really should think about joining us after the meeting next week. A group of us go to McAlister and eat and talk. There are post and pre ops in the group. The post ops are always willing to answer any questions and you can watch them eat!! We have way too much fun. I usually come to the pre-op meeting, stay through the post op meeting, and then we all go to mcalisters. It is great. Please feel free to join us. I was a little uncomfortable about going the first time but I had a great time and they make you feel soooooo comfortable. Take care and let me know if you are going to join us next monday! Rachel

Hey Rachel. I think it would be fun to get together and watch the games on TV. I plan on coming to the support group meeting. I wasn't able to go Monday because I had worked all day and have to get up at 2:30 AM to get ready for work, so needless to say I was beat Monday night. I dont usually work Mondays, but I was working for someone else and she is working for me on Thursday. I received an email from Lacey today and she said Dr. Russell had a couple of cancellations tomorrow (Wednesday) around 11 AM, so I am getting to move that up from the 21st of August , woo hoo! My other appointments are August 7 with Chris and August 16 with Dr.Bour. I cant' wait, maybe things will move a little more quckly now. I look forward to meeting you next Monday, so until then take care! Mary

Great! Dr. Russell's visit is pretty simple. He will go over your psych eval with you. That is pretty entertaining. I think he gives everyone a pretty generic discription. Don't be alarm if he suggest meds. I hear he suggest an anti depressant for anyone that is not on one already!!! LOL!! I was already on one and he suggested a stronger dose. I thought this was funny. I have been on that same dose for the last 6 years!! I took it with a grain of salt!! Have fun with the eval. It is really entertaining. The appointment with Chris on the 7th should be pretty easy. I had Michelle but Chris is HOT!! Hey, I can look can't I??? She just went over the stages of food after surgery and the optifast program. I meet with Dr. Bour next wednesday so I can't inform you what that will be like. Take care and I'll see you next week!! Rachel

Congrats! I know it can seem like forever, but it's almost been 3 years for me and I can still remember vividly all the pre-op hoops I was jumping through. Moral? Time really does fly....
