OMG, you just killed me the "war of northern agression". i though my husband was the only one who stilled called it that. he goes ape when i mention the civil war because he says and i quote "we were a peaceful nation invaded by a foreign army". now, our best friend is one of those damn yankees so they go at each other constantly.

I'm actually from Iowa. No there are so many of us and they love the money we bring in. We have a few folks at work that you can tell the NY accents in a heartbeat. We love all of them. The only time I hear about the damn yankees is when we are picking at each other. This is really the most friendly place. We came to Columbia originally in 1985 and then moved up the road a piece to Charlotte, NC. When we came back down here in 1996, I swear to God, the friends I made in 1985 were still here and we are great friends again. I just saw another one yesterday that I hadn't seen since 1985 and we picked up just where we left off. The history in this state is awesome. I forgot, we also have the Camden cups if you are into horse racing. We have a lot of horse breeders and my boss breeds yorkie dogs. A lot of animal lovers, NASCAR lovers, some rednecks, some yankees, some foreigners. You will find it all here in the midlands. Just remember.... grocery carts are buggies. Grocery sacks are bags. If you ask for a sack, they look at you like you are from outer space. So my DH who got flustered trying to remember what they called the damn things, asked for a baggie. LOL It is a hoot here. You would probably really like it. We lived in Anaheim, Ca too. I do miss the drier air there, but I do not miss the traffic. As you already know from living in FL, difference in the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific is night and day. Good luck and let me know if you relocate here.

Hey there We love living here!!! We have two children so we chose to live in the Lexington School District 1. If you have children the best districts are Lexington 1, Richland/Lexington 5, Richland 2 (in the northeast). They are award winning districts. Hope you get to move here...our community is great. I am a patien of Riverside Surgical. My doctor, Dr. Strickland, is AWESOME!!! He is very caring, answers all questions and has a great personality. good luck with the move... --Kelly
