Meetings in Columbia???

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone knew if there were support meetings here in Columbia and if not, would anyone like to start one? Jodie

Hi Jodie! We don't have an ObesityHelp group in Columbia; Heather tried to start one, but folks seemed to be too busy. We do have one at Lexington Medical Center; it meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 in the Lexington Medical Park auditorium, and everyone is welcome to attend. I'd be interested in getting together a group from here if other folks want to join in! When would be good for folks? Heather was getting us together on Thursday evening, which was a good time for me. Lisa

Hey! I was thinking maybe just a casual meeting place? The only evenings I could do it would be Monday or Friday. My husband works the night shift at UPS Tuesday-Thursday. And Saturdays are always ok. If it was during the week it would have to ba about 7pm. Is that too late? I think this would be fun and exciting to get to meet people who are going through or have been through the same things as myself. My email is [email protected] if someone wants to email me about it. I went when Heather was organizing. We always had a great time but it was so difficult to have everyone agree upon a place to meet. I think we should pick a day, time and place and have it the same all the time, what do you guys think? Are we talking weekly or monthly? It would be difficult for me to get there every week but I could make it some of the time. BTW -- if we are looking at Monday or Friday, Friday would be best. Little League football is starting up and Friday/Saturday are the only days I have free. I would also be game for a lunch on Saturday. Kelly

Yes, I agree that we should set a day and place. That would probably be easier for everyone. And Friday nights or Saturday lunch would be perfect! I have 3 kids and need my husband to be home to babysit! Let me know what you all want to do! This will be so fun! Jodie

I've never been to a single support meeting. Is that what I've been missing? Either day works for me. I never could make them when Heather was trying to schedule because of work but I changed jobs about 2 mos ago.

Why don't we try to meet on Friday, July 28? That gives us a couple of weeks (almost) to get it on our calendars. Can spouses come also? I live in Southeast Columbia, which far from everyone, I think. Where's a good place to meet in a more central location? I'm psyched about this! Lisa

Hey! GREAT idea!!! How about 7pm? Is that too late? Sure, I suppose spouses could come!! My husband might enjoy that. I live near Lexington and work in Columbia so, where ever everyone wants to meet is great with me!!! I am soooo excited about this!! I cannot wait to meet everyone! If everyone puts in an idea on where to meet then we can choose from them. How about Lizard's Thicket by the airport? Any other suggestions? This is sooo exciting!! Jodie

Hey there Not sure if I will make it on the 28th, we will be getting back from vacation that day. But I will vote on a place any way. How about something like Atlanta Bread Co or McAlister Deli...they usually have food we can eat. Saturday that week wont work either, youngest son has his first football practice and momma ain't gonna miss that... --Kelly
