QOTD- My Mom was a pretty good cook, not spectacular but not horrible. Ironically she never cooks now.
I had a really good experience with my mammogram yesterday. It was less than 40 minutes and I had the results right then. I also discovered that there are 6 staples in my right breast. Who knew? I got to see them and I was pretty much shocked. It was so much less stressful than going to the hospital.
Cloudy and overcast today, it's only supposed to get up to 75 today, I'm enjoying the cooler weather.
Day 2 of my roommates job, so far he likes it. He picks up a truck and trailer and meets a truck from California at the truck stop in Halsey they swap trailers and he delivers to a bunch of locations in the metro area. He's going to be doing 4X10's so he will have a 3 day weekend. He just needs to make sure he follows the DOT hours and stays safe.
I have a mani-pedi today and get my hair done tomorrow those are my big plans.
Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Queen JB and Menuers,
The weather has been nice around here even opted to go to an Italian festival on Sunday rather than use the pool. I hope the weather holds up and yinz enjoy the game.
I am so impressed with this floor guy. When I stopped by last night, he left things so clean and neat. I could not believe someone was in the middle of a project. We also did not need to replace any sub flooring because whoever but the last floor in put it on top of a linoleum floor and the water did not go through to the floorboards. To me it looks like he might finish up today. That would work out perfect.
2 more days then I'm off to the beach. Not as easy as it once was. I could be in the car packed and ready to go with in an hour before. Now I got to organize mom organize the dog, make sure Ron has everything he needs. I actually thought in my head I should just stay home this is too much work. Then I remembered my opportunities to be on the beach are slim so just get your act together.
QOTD: We say my mom was a bad cook but that women would make over 10 loaves a bread every week when we were kids. She also makes a mean Beef Stroganoff, and stuffed cabbage. Dad did most of the cooking and I do blame him for my obesity. He was a clean your plate person and portions were always way too big.

Morning all. Just a regular old day today. I'm still not allowed to do a lot, so my big plan is some laundry and watching the last two episodes of The Acolyte.
QOTD: My dad didn't cook. Men had jobs, women had jobs, and men didn't cook. Turns out men's jobs were mostly telling us to mow the lawn, shovel the driveway, etc. I wanted to think my mom was a good cook, but she really wasn't. Most meals were a meat, a potato, a canned or frozen vegetable. Sunday dinners were the same, but we usually ate in the dining room instead of the kitchen, and the meat was usually a roast.

Good morning, everybody!
It's a rainy day in Chicago today. I brought a coat, which will keep me somewhat dry this morning, but probably cause me to roast this afternoon just carrying it.
Thursday is a rest day, so just work in the office and Zoom tonight. We are going to order a quiche from one of our downtown restaurants and make a salad to go with it.
Has anyone taken Malaria pills? I have heard that they upset a lot of people's stomach's? Also, they don't prevent Malaria, just lessen the symptoms?
QOTD: Not really. Also didn't have a lot of money for high quality groceries.

Lunch: catered
Dinner: Quiche
Have a great day, all!

Good morning, all
I've been hitting the gym the last few weeks. I see the results in my mental health already. I did a yoga class yesterday. First yoga class that I've taken. I held steady til the end. I was dripping sweat. Due to my physical limitations, I wasn't able to do all the poses.
QOTD- My mom was a good cook. My father tried. Omelette with peanut butter anyone.

Good Morning! Friday-Eve and I am ready for a weekend that's for sure. The last two nights I haven't slept soundly because I've got work on my brain. We are having to make some decisions about the team and knowing that going one route will make the next 4-6 months chaos. Worth it? If I'm being honest probably but that doesn't make it any easier. I feel that rarely the "right" decision is the easy one. I also don't make the final decision and will support what is decided in the end. I've also had to let my voice be heard when instinctually I want to keep the peace and avoid chaos!
Edited to add QOTD: Nope. We typically had the same things on repeat and that was a type of meat, potato, veggie and sliced bread with butter people most nights. Spaghetti or goulash (I still don't like that) were a staples too.

Mornin' All!
rain again today. Boo. We've had a break from it the last few days, so I've gotten some biking in, but not today. I hope it's just a one-shot thing and not days on end like it has been this summer. So disappointing since I love exercising outside, and biking is my primary summer exercise.
I have to take one of the cats to the vet this morning for his annual physical, then I'm going to a luncheon. After that, it's an hour with the neighbor cat I'm babysitting for while his "parents" are away. I need to really plow into a book when I get home later this afternoon - because the discussion group meets Monday morning. Maybe it's just as well that it'll be a rainy day.
QOTD: my mother hates cooking and it shows. The food she made wasn't necessarily bad (although it was usually mid-century blah fare, like meat and frozen vegetables - like that corn & lima bean combo - or the pea and carrot combo (with carrots cut into tiny cubes)), and she usually made the same four meals, on repeat. The only thing I really loved that she made was spaghetti. My father would cook about once a week to give her a break. The only things I remember him making are waffles, meatloaf, and creamed ground beef on toast (or as they call it in the army, "sh*t on a shingle"). In fact, I'm pretty sure these were the things he learned to make when he was in the National Guard, because he occasionally did work in the mess hall when he was active in that. The waffles were OK, but I still almost never eat waffles because I remember his. And to this day I will not touch meatloaf with a 10-foot pole. As far as the beef/toast thing - have never had it since and never will. I'm more like your mom, QJB. In fact, I currently have two cookbooks on my nightstand. I love paging through cookbooks!
coffee with half & half
skyr with fruit or a protein shake
I have no clue what they're serving at this luncheon, other than I chose the vegetarian meal on the registration card
leftover "harvest bowl" from last night's (restaurant) dinner
I think I'm going to add some heavier foods to my meals. Last night's harvest bowl consisted of tofu and roasted vegetables over brown rice & quinoa. I could only manage to eat 1/3 of it, and the bowl wasn't even one of those huge things you often get at restaurants. I was stuffed to the gills and remained full all night. It was probably due to the grains, plus maybe the diced sweet potatoes that were in there. I often get the same effect from a slab of meat, but I rarely eat meat. But I can certainly eat more grains. That should probably really cut down on my snacking, which I otherwise work hard to control. Yogurt just doesn't stay with you all that long..
have a great day, everyone!
