Post surgery 4 years severe abdominal pain - HELP
LEIGH -I have been blessed, in that these things have not happened to ME, personally, but I do have some knowledge/experience, as a nurse, and as a friend of IRL friends, who have suffered similar conditions, as yours.
I've been a nurse nearly 40 years, and seen a whole lots of stuff. Not to offend your probably really smart medical team, but they need to be even MORE proactive. Has the term INTUSSUSCEPTION come up? It's when a segment of the intestine "telescopes" within another. The tricky part is that if it is not doing DURING the scan, it won't be CAUGHT. SO you have to be scanned DURING the pain/incident. Tricky timing, at the very least. One friend told me it was absolutely more painful, to her, than natural childbirth had been. Her doctor didn't find it UNTIL surgery-and she had 3 different places.
Fun fact: Peterson hernia space was named after Dr. Walter Petersen, who discovered them in 1900....lol...gotta love Google!!! The hernia spaces are actually a little rare, but are becoming more common, as lap RNYs become more and more popular.
I, also, still think your Gallbladder needs some more attention. Those boogers can cause all kinds of hell.
Please keep us up to date!! This is very interesting, and your information sure can help others

We Can Do Hard Things
Hi there! Thanks for the reply. Yes, they have spoken about that, but they say it is hard to catch during a scan, and I refuse to go wait in the ER and then the whole waiting game due to eating. So I feel like there is no win/win here.
I think I am going to postpone surgery Thursday so I can have the scope done so they can hopefully figure it out and have a plan going in. If I have to be out of work for over a week with a revision, I don't want to take a week now for a baindaid and then another surgery. I'd rather find it all out now!
