The only iron other than oral - is IV, as far as know. And it needs to be administered under a medical supervision. I am not aware about iron injection. Never heard of it.

Some people get good results by using patchmd iron patches. I can't take oral iron. Not only I can't absorb it, but it caused severe gut pain when I do try to take it. Any iron.

I got a few IV iron over the years, but last couple of years I am trying patches. I will know in as month or so if my numbers are still ok.

Some people can absorb the iron from patches, while other do not. Nobody really knows why, as far as I can tell.

there are iron injections but the injections are only administered in a doctors office.

Why cant you get whip from your pcp? Do your labs show you are very anemic?

I get iron infusions via a hematologist.

I can't imagine being able to buy them -- iron can be very dangerous to mess with -- it requires a doctor.

Our local clinic allows us to self-order, self-prepay iron labwork but nowhere do I know of self-injection iron. The closest thing might be the iron patches found at www.patchmd.com

No it's a drug. It must be prescribed.

You need to find a doctor who will prescribe it for you. This can be difficult. Try your WLS clinic and your primary doctor. Good luck. It's not unusual for post Rny patients to need iron IV.

Naturopathic Doctors (ND) can also prescribe & provide iron infusions and other IV therapies.

Thanks Ladies, I cant go to my doctor as he's back home in Australia and i'm in the U.S. so i don't really have a doctor here and with the high medical bills in the U.S I'm not sure i'd want to go that rout guess i'll just have to wait and see what happens.
