with my fellow RNY peeps...

I had my 2 month post op appointment monday (still cannot believe that it has been a little over 2 months since my rebirth day!!!) Anyways, I am officially down 68 pounds since the start of my liquid diet and 52 pounds since surgery! Un-freakin-believable. I cannot believe that this is my life now.

My surgeon is impressed with my weight loss, but my nut is slightly concerned by my need to use protein shakes as supplement more often times than not. But man, it is hard to get enough protein in any other way.

-Chicken i**** or miss with me. But most of the time it is hard to stomach. I have had it both baked and grilled and it is just blah. I don't like it at all.

-Beef is the same.

-Fish has been my go to, preferably salmon, sense it isn't as dense and packs a ton of protein in a little bit.

I am also having days and moments in which I cannot stomach the thought of eating anything so i sip protein, may have a yogurt, and just want to rest. I am still pretty early out but my nut is worried about this.

Which brings me to my questions: What do you guys eat? And how does one simply force themselves to eat even when there is absolutely no appetite there AT ALL!?

THANK YOU ALL!! Hope everything has been going well with you

Congratulations on your surgery and weight loss!

I would suggest that you continue with the fish and protein drinks & make sure you get your protein in. Don't worry about getting in a variety of foods. Stick with what you can eat. Over time, your taste buds will change and you will be able to add a variety of foods.

Have you tried deli meats? They can be easier to digest. Ground beef can be problematic for many early out.

I too have no appetite but I eat because my life depends on it! If I don't eat, my reactive hypoglycemia will kick in and I will faint--came close early out. Remember, we had this surgery to improve our health, so view this as your new full-time job!

I had surgery 3/29/17. Turkey, deli meats, yogurt and reduced fat cheese are on my menu. Salmon is also tasty. No ground beef yet. I've had a couple meals of chicken and I am OK.

I use protein shakes to flavor my tea.

Remember, keep your eyes on the prize--improved health! You can do this!

You are doing a great job :)

Deli meats are better usually, as is freshly baked ham... think juicy yummy meats. Grilled/baked chicken might be too dry for you, but chicken salad might work... dark meat versus white meat is also another alternative. Sauces help a lot with meats.

You can add mayo/ranch dressing/gravy to your plate and make it much more moist.

If you try a GOOD cut of beef, you might find it goes down much easier. Beef has always been my friend, but not ground at first (it's the toughest cuts of meat ground up)

I did a lot of fish too at first, but tuna didn't work for me at all (pouch tuna anyway)... and I have yet to give it another try (I really should).

While you want to wean off things like protein shakes/protein bars (don't even start those), you are pretty new out and some things your pouch just won't be ready for.

Just have patience, and try things again in a few weeks. I got things stuck up until like 9 months, but it really got much better after 6 months.

That lack of appetite issue? Yeah, that will most likely go away too... my hunger is back, and my head hunger is enormous now!

When the vets tell us about how hard it gets, believe them, because it's so true!

Crock pots are a great thing for meat.
