What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?

Yep, AL Roker. Starr Jones. Fat shaming was still totally cool back then, so no one had anything nice to say about them, and I never ever heard one positive thing about WLS in the media during that era.

Good morning folks! What a weekend. My parents are all moved and settled in to their new place. I am so thankful to my BF, son, brothers and sisters who were there to help with everything. Man, there was so much going on, so much to do and we had to unpack as well. Not looking forward to the garage sale at the old house this coming weekend. My sisters and I are running it (give me strength that we all get out alive) I wish they would just donate that stuff and move on. Sunday was a recovery day for sure. We did get a good walk in, a Target run and cleaned the whole house. Then we BBQ'd a bunch hot Italian sausage, kielbasa, tri tip, onions and peppers and vegged our on the couch . I love having ready-to-eat meat in the fridge!!
QOTD - I've thought about it forever, but never actually considered it. My doctor the last few years kept bringing it up saying it was a good option for me, but I didn't pull the trigger until my sister (who has the same doctor) asked me what I thought as she was possibly interested. That is when the true research began for both of us and I was able to really see it was for me. My sister had VSG and her insurance only took 6 weeks form consultation to surgery. I choose RNY (gerd) and my insurance took about 6 months from consultation to surgery.
5+ month post op
b-coffee w/heavy cream and splenda
b2-kielbasa
l-hot sausage w/1 pepper and 1 onion strip

Have a great day!

Good morning everybody,
QOTD: I was thinking about WLS for a couple of years. The worse my knees got the more I thought about it. One day I was climbing some concrete stairs that led to a glass door. As I got to the last step and about to enter I fell into the glass door and the concrete steps. I injured my neck and my forearm, wrist and both knees (I had also fallen several times previously through the months). That was it for me....I couldn't take it anymore and started to look into the surgery.

Happy Monday. You'll get used to the decaf, JB, except you'll always miss the kick. I went back to regular, but have noticed an increase in acid, so back to the decaf for me. Weekend was nice. We went to a new steakhouse to celebrate my brother's birthday. It was really nice. We each had our own protein (except I shared a 20 oz bone in NY strip steak with my mom . . . and will have the rest for lunch today) and split the appetizer, salad and sides. I did have 1/4 of a crab cake and a taste of the dessert they brought out (butter cake with bananas foster and vanilla ice cream. No harm on the scale front, so all good.
JBQOTD: two of my friends had surgery and had great results (once has since gained back a bunch of weight and it hurts my heart) I talked to both about their surgeries, but didn't do anything about moving forward. Then my cardiologist (I had an "episode" of sky high, you're going to have a stroke, range blood pressure so I had a cardiologist) mentioned it. I was still resistant, but took the name of dr. he recommended. After letting the idea swirl around my brain for a while, I picked up the phone and called for an appointment with the surgeon the cardiologist recommended. It happened to be the surgeon I chose. I took a LONG time for me to get to the point where I was open to the idea. Funny story about the cardiologist . . . In the hospital, my blood pressure dropped crazy low . . . it was so low my nurse felt compelled to call a supervisor since they were worried. Anyway, they consulted with the cardiologist who made an appointment for me to come in the following week. I get to his office, and he walks in while they're doing an EKG, so you can still see my steri-strips on my incisions. He looks at me and asks if I'd ever considered WLS . . . while staring at my incisions. I looked at him with a straight face and said "no." He proceeded to tell me that it would be a good idea for me, but that I need to be careful, because even though I'd likely lose weight, I'd probably gain it all back because I'd stretch out my stomach. My last appointment there was in May, 2014. I walked out the door and never looked back.
Here's my plan:
B: Citrus marinated chicken
S: latte with 4 oz fairlife, HB egg
L: Dry aged prime NY Strip steak, carrots
S: yogurt
D: Tri Tip with mushrooms
Edited to add totals: Cals: 690; protein: 105g; fat: 29g; carbs: 23g
These macros are great, but the calories are very low for me, so I'll have to figure out additional food. I have protein powder/protein bars with me, so I may add in one.
Not sure of the totals, but I'm assuming well within my calorie range and pretty damned high in protein.
I'll have what you're having...that is a pretty yummy menu right there...

Hello Everyone,
JB, sorry about the decaf. I also switched before surgery and hope i never have to take the decaf away cause for me it's all about the taste.
School vacation is over and I'm back at work.... boo....! I have decided to lower my goal weight. I'm at 156.6 now and I'm 5'3. I never thought I'd actually get into the 150's but now that I am at 7 mos. post op I've decided to go for at least a normal BMI which would be 140 so I've lowered it to that. I'm hoping I can get below that as well because of the possibility for regain but the weight loss has slowed down a bit so we shall see what happens. Right now it's all a miraculous adventure so it will be where ever it will take me.
QOTD: I did my own research and got the band in 2006.... stupid idea... but after having it and not doing well for 10 years I knew it had to come out because of all the reflux I was having. I didn't anticipate getting RNY but I was so afraid of gaining more weight. When I saw a pic of me at my daughters graduation I knew I had to do something and decided to go for it. I've had people in my family that have had the surgery years earlier and have had quite a bit of regain. I'm going to work hard to make sure that is not how my story ends.

Good afternoon,
I had a good weekend spent with my friend, dad and stepmom and church family.
QOTD Alot of my family had WLS, some had complications and gained their weight back. I tried to get it when I was younger but couldn't get it done. Im glad i didn't because i wouldn't been successful then. In 2012 i checked into it but i felt like i couldn't afford it so I didn't pursue it. In 2014, i turned 50 and my health was declining and i didn't want to die at age 57 like my mom. I signed up for the seminar and never looked back. Best decision of my life.
