Neat gadget. I have been using my rice cooker/steamer for my fresh eggs for years.  Never had an issue with peeling them.

I swear by putting baking soda in the water when you are boiling the eggs, the shells peel right off!!!

This is what I was going to suggest!  The baking soda makes it easy to peel the eggs. I also bring my eggs to boiling, then cover and turn off the heat.  Let them sit for 11-12 minutes, then drain ho****er, add cold water and ice.  When completely cool, peel and enjoy.

i just bought 2 dozen hard boiled eggs at Costco.  They were either the same price as the regular eggs or cheaper.  I usually buy the brown organic eggs, but after reading the posts the other day about buying boiled eggs I just had to buy some.  I wish I would exercise after I read someone ran a marathan, ugh.

Going to Costco can be exactly like running a marathon!

I have a non-stop eating machine (a 14 year old boy swimmer). It's time to start going to Costco again but to me it's usually a marathon.

I bought the hard boiled eggs at Costco, but did not like them.  There was just something funky about their taste that made me gag.

The best way I've ever found to hard boil eggs was a tip from Alton Brown on an episode of Good Eats. Cover the eggs with cold water, put on the stove on high. As soon as it starts to boil, turn off the heat and cover the pan. In exactly 15 minutes, perfectly hard boiled eggs. It hasn't let me down once, and I've never had any trouble peeling them.

Yes, this is my method, too.  It doesn't work well with very fresh eggs.  The eggs one buys in the store are typically over a month old.

If I know I'm going to make deviled eggs for a party, I buy them 1-2 weeks in advance.  The older they are, the easier they are to peel.

And yes, I use the Alton Brown method too, and as Kat W says, it doesn't work for fresh eggs.

I used to do that...until I got distracted a few times and the water evaporated... Now-  it is set It and targeted.. No longer I need to "watch the water boil"..
