Nah, don't worry about it. My plan had me come home from the hospital on day 2 eating Greek yogurt and cottage cheese along with my shakes. No adverse side effects at all, and it was nice to have a break from 24 hour shakes!

Mine is close to the same...

3 days post op- sugar free liquids

day 4-2 weeks full liquids

week 3-6 pureed foods

week 6-11 soft solid diet

week 12 regular solid food

I think the word maintenance is more about the 'new regular' diet not 'I'm finished loosing' diet.

The plan should be safe, since it is designed of Bariatric food lists and Bariatric food menu a like. Post op your body is trying to recover and heal from a serious surgery... no rush and skip the short cuts. You can always check this site and google post op Bariatric food lists and Bariatric menus.

i think my plan had the full liquid stage until week 3 but other than that it looks the same. you won't be eating solids for 6 weeks so i think you should feel comfortable that it's safe. remember that as you go along, at any time you can slow it down if it feels uncomfortable. the plan is the guide but you get to decide. no one size fits all. best of luck and see you on the other side!

All surgeons are different. I was on liquids for the 2 days I was in the hospital, then my surgeon sent me home with a diet I followed which had me eating grits and scrambled eggs the day I got home. Of course I couldn't eat much at all, but those were his orders. Just stick to what your surgeon says..

They are all slightly different...  it's usually based on experience with patients and what they believe to be better... and often those guidelines are general so when pushed or questioned they may adapt for the individual.

Mine was similar. Day 8 I was on pureeds/soft as tolerated. Week 8 cleared for all as tolerated. My Dr. said he saw less stricture issues with a diet progression that got you on solids earlier. Most things worked out well and those that don't, try again in a few weeks it's usually fine then... eggs are notoriously on OK lists very early but you have to play around with them... usually lay heavy at first. Keep foods moist esp. meats (crockpot, cooked in broth) or dip them... greek yogurt dips (herb, plain yogurt) helps.

Best wishes to you! Best decision I ever made.

Good luck on Thursday. I'm 11 months out and not yet at Maintenance. 4 months might be pushing it. Either that or I am slow. Lol

Keep us posted.
