Kim, glad to read that you're doing great!

I don't feel like I had WLS at all!  Plus, I have no dumping either.  Nor do I have a sweet tooth, except for solid chocolates.  I don't eat chocolates very often.

There are some days when my eating feels like a bottomless pit; others when I really feel the restrictions and therefore don't eat much.  I eat protein-laden foods without any issues, except that those often fill me up.

I cannot tolerate toasted and non-toasted breads.  So I now have my sandwiches stuffed in a 1/2 whole wheat pocket bread or low-carb whole wheat tortilla and don't have any issues with either one.  I even use the same tortilla for my PBJ fix.

Hope to see you and the others at a future gathering.

Hi Linda!

Trouble is that I don't own a digital cam and my old cam that used 35mm film has been broken for some 10 years.  My cell phone doesn't have a cam either.  I am still under contract for my cell phone so I should wait until the contract ends in mid-December later this year before considering a cell phone with a cam.  Otherwise, a new pic would have been posted in my avatar every month on my surgiversary.

Yes, I am feeling fabulous, even tho I suffered from a couple of colds from late January to the third week of February.  I am scheduled to go back to OHSU on Tuesday for a procedure that is not related to my WLS.

Hope to see you again soon in either the Eugene-Springfield or the Portland areas.

Don't know where your surgery will be done.  However, I was not required to lose weight prior to my surgery.  But I did voluntarily load up on protein-laden foods and cut down on simple carbs.  As a result of that, I lost about 10# in the month between my consult with my surgeon and my surgery day.  I tolerated my operation very well.

All patients do get weighed in at the pre-op unit at OHSU prior to their operations.

Lean Cuisine and Healthy Choice foods are very high in carbs.

I was able to use a psychologist from the Samaritan Health System in Corvallis.  I think they have nutritionists there.

I love Powells Book Store.  Pioneer Square in downtown Portland is a great place to hang out  Of course there is the Portland Farmers Market and all of that stuff.

Good Luck!

another must see in Oregon is the Oregon coast.  Seaside, Lincoln city and Cannon beach..  The weather is usually in the upper 80's.  Not really that bad.  Oregon does get alot of rain, but usually sun during the summer months.
