Gosh, if I were worried about what my GP would say, I would find another doc that is supportive.

Don't know for sure if the support group for lapband at Legacy is open or not.  Might try calling them.  OWLS=Oregon Weight Loss Surgery.  I believe that they meet monthly.  I know I find my local support group meetings full of encouragement.

Please join us Thursday, March 26th, 6:00-7:30 PM at the Market of Choice, 29th and Willamette Streets in Eugene.  The meeting is open to all, no matter what type of surgery or where you had it.  Come and get to know folks from the area who understand what you're going through.  We have a good mix of folks - newbies, folks who had surgery years ago, DSers, Gastric Sleeve patients, Lap Banders, and RNY folks.  Hope to see you there!

Topic: Looking for an aftercare physician
Good morning!

I am looking for an aftercare physician that is willing to work with me after a south of the border procedure.  Stitches, follow-up, all that.

Does anyone know of a nice, supportive doctor?
I haven't even told my GP yet... I'm worried about what she will say.

Hi!  I hear OHSU does have a support group that meets on Wednesday nights, I think.  I don't remember all the details, as I am from Eastern OR so the drive is a little long for me.  Good luck.

Best wishes to you Julia!  I too am hoping I will eventually have a lift and small reduction.  I don't think I want implants either.  How I would love to be able to go without a harness!

Hey Bopperb!  If you go to the RNY forum here at OH, there is a page that tells you what you should be eating at what stage.  Let me see if I can find it and post the link here.  Yep - here it is:

Hope that helps.

Topic: Portland Support Group?

I'm having my LapBand surgery on April 7 (yay!) at Bay Bariatrics in Coos Bay and would like to join a support group in Portland (or close-by Portland).  BB also has a support group in McMinville I'm told, but that's a wee bit far for me.

Does anyone know of one local? Does OHSU offer one that I could join? Any info would be appreciated.

PM me if you prefer.

Thanks in advance.
