Hi All.  My name is Julie and I had a RNY laproscopically on April 3, 2009 at OHSU, Dr Deveney  and his team did a fabulous job.  I had a post op with my PCP and was down 22#'s in a little over two weeks yesterday.  The liquid diet is a challenge.  I am thankful for Cottage Cheese.  Its really whats gotten me through this period.  On to soft food next week.  Whoo hoo.

What can you do if you are told that your insurance discludes weightloss surgeries?
Blue cross and blueshield of oregon discludes weightloss surgies automatically and that the companies have to include it.   But they rarely do because it costs so much to add it...

Honestly dont know what to do

Hey, JoAnn--I'm a "newbie" too--April 13.  I only have 2 weeks of the "smooth food" regimen and I'm already tired of it!!!  I'm sure we are not alone.  I had some cream of chicken soup tonight and was thrilled that there was a tiny bit of something chewable in it!  (It's ok, I didn't "inhale" so the speak.) LOL.

Hi, I'm Cathy.  I just had my laprascopic RNY on Monday, April 13, so I'm still in the "OMGosh, what have I done??!!!" stage.  Dr. Yarbrough in Springfield did my procedure.  I lost about 17 or 18 lbs presurgery, and have lost about another 3 or so since Monday (not including the lost "fluid" weight from all the IV's, which went away by the 2nd day).  Now I'm trying to figure out how to eat AND get 64 ounces of water in per day.  I don't seem to be able to tell yet when I'm full.  Maybe that will come?  I think I have about 60 lbs to go.

I'm Patty, non-surgical in Keizer. I've been doing Medifast off and on for almost a year now. I just try to eat like a WLS patient!

Sounds like you are off to a wonderful start.  Just remember this is a journey and there will be hills and valleys along the way.

Keep up the good work!

Hello, I had the lap band done in Eugene by Dr. Yarborough on February 9, 2009. I've had one fill since then and am needing more to really feel like I found my "sweet spot". But I've lost 40lbs including pre-op weight. I find I have good days where I eat small portions and healthier food and other days where I have a large appetite and eat things I shouldn't. I joined a gym and am exercising regularly and feeling good about that. I am doing good about getting my water in everyday as well. I'm trying to now break the habit of wanting to snack while watching a movie with my family.
