Kmccrary Update

I just thought I would check in and let you know how I'm doing.  I am still sore but getting better every day.  I've already lost about 5 pounds and that makes not eating worth it.  Today when my family brought in Sonic I was depressed, but not really hungry.  Man the head hunger sucks.  My tropical SF popsicles are my new best friend.  They really help me feel like I'm eating.  I've done pretty good with my water, except today I'm a little behind.  For some reason I've had a little nausea so I've slowed down the drinking a bit.  I will definitely be leaning on you all to get me through the next 10 days.  I'm already counting the days until mushies.  Wish me luck as I'm going to try and go back to work tomorrow.  I think I will be okay, but we'll see.

Thanks for being here for me.

glad to hear that you are doing so well! during my liquid phase my husband and son ate out a lot but brought it home. i t is very depressing for them to be eating the things i used to love and i had to suck on a popsicle!! even now that i can eat deli meat and i get to start back with veggies tomorrow i still get a little down. but when i put on some clothes that used to be tight on me or that i couldn't even wear any more and they just hang on me, i know it was worth it! so hang in there it does get better!

I have been wondering about you! I went back to work 1 week after surgery. I did get permission to leave early as you will find you get tired easily. Most nights I am in bed by 9. Liquids get easier the second wee****il right at the end and then you just want to chew! I get mushies tomorrow. I can't wait! And you are right, head hunger is the worst!

I'm glad to hear you are doing well.  The head hunger is really hard the first few weeks.  Thank God for SF tropical popsicles.  They are still my dessert!  When they eat stuff in front of you that you can't eat think about the good things...like your weight loss.  It's so worth it!  I had RNY and had to be back at work part time after 3 days.  The hardest part was sitting up working at the desk because you have to kind of lean forward....ouchy on the incisions.  Just be sure to get your rest and if you are getting close to drinking your water you are doing awesome!  It took me 2 months to be able to get in 64 ounces of water!!!  Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Don't be a hero at work today!  If you need to leave a little early do it!  You will find you tire easily.

I am happy you are doing so well!  You are right the head hunger is the worst!  It seemed to get a little better the second week.  Mushies are coming!

Well I made it to work, but I am nauseous like no other.  I don't know if it is the pain pill I took in the middle of the night or what.  I am trying to sip on an isopure but it is pretty strong and my tummy isn't liking it too much.  Any suggestions?  I really want to try to make it through work all day if possible.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hot tea carried me through the nauseous phase. I did it when I first got up in the morning, and I hate hot tea. I put a little splenda in it to help. I also had peppermint flavor and loved that. If that doesn't work, ask your PCP or Dr. Walton about  gel phenergren. It goes on the wrist and was a God send to me as I battled nausea. In 30 mins after application, nausea was gone.

Also, even though you're nauseous, slowing down the drinking makes it worse and can make you weaker. Experiment with different Crystal Lights until you find one that works. I had trouble with sweets, but the Orange Early Rise tastes like Tang and got me through not drinking enough. He told me I was nearly dehydrated because I'd slowed my drinking down due to nausea too.

Take care of yourself, and if I can help, let me know!

Thanks so much for the advise.  I drank pretty good yesterday, about 50 oz. I think.  I was a little nauseous yesterday too, but it is definitely more noticable today.  I am trying to sip, sip, sip.  Hopefully that will help me out.  The pharmacy gave me phenergan suppositories instead of the gel cream so I don't know what I'm going to do about that.  I wasn't there to pick it up and so didn't know if was the wrong kind until after I came home.  I will try the warm tea.  That might help.

Thanks again for your help.

During that whole time, Dr. Walton told me to shoot for 45-50 ounces instead of the 64. There is one pharmacy in Edmond that has the gel..it has to be compounded or something..suppositories aren't fun, but you might see if they can be returned or swapped...if not...I'm sorry.
