Just to be clear, I HATED refried beans before surgery.  I tried them one night and still..ick.  Well, today I was on the go and didn't plan well so had to eat on the run.  I got Taco Bell pintos and cheese (basically refried beans) but had them put sour cream on it.  I mixed it all up oh and it had some of their mild taco sauce in it.  OH MY WORD!!  It was so good.  I never knew I could like beans.  It was a bit rich though and was the highest fat content of anything my tummy has seen so far.  But, I'm thinking I can do the same thing at home but with light sour cream.  And before I get slapped on the hand for having sour cream on stage 2, I actually cleared that with Dr. B. because I had seen a protien shake that called for some sour cream and it said it was fine.  I might be starting to fall in love with my sleeve.

Anyway congrats on beans and if you find any other good stuff let me know. You are looking and doing great. Cindy

Tomorrow is your day girl!!!  Just take it slow and easy. Remember the bite about the size of a pencil eraser and chew the you know what out of it.  It won't always be this difficult to eat so don't get discouraged.  I had low fat cheese sticks for my first few meals and could only eat about 1/4 to 1/4 half of 1 oz of a cheese stick!

You girls !!!  There is a method to their madness !!!   They take all your food away so anything tastes great !!!   Just kidding.  What I will say is I do appreciate what I eat now and I actually taste it, instead of just cramming it down my face !!!!  Keep up the good work !!  Lynette

Amy - it happened to me, that things I did not like before surgery I now like and vice-versa. Overall, I have become very choosy when it comes to food - my husband just informed me the other day that I am "too picky" - bless his heart, he just now figured it out!  If I am not hungry, there is absolutely nothing appealing to me, as opposed to before when I could eat mindlessly. At at month or two out there was only a handful of foods that I liked, not it has gotten better, but still, I am very picky. So, don't be surprised at all about your taste buds changing, I don't know why that is, but it happens to many. -Anna

I told you those beans would be awesome. I eat them all the time. My favorite thing to eat.

I still just never was able to do the beans before or after WLS, but I have odd tastes anyways~ Glad you found a new favorite food!  I have had a lot of my tastes change, too...  You're going to have so much fun trying new things (and I mean that sincere and not sarcastic)!
