Yummy coffee with protein
My lovely brother-in-law bought me a Starbucks coffee while on vacation. It was the first time I had tried a fancy coffee. Well, I got hooked! They must put crack or something in their coffee. However, I am a cheap skate and don't like paying $4 for a cup of coffee. I came up with a concotion yesterday that fills that craving!! Here is the recipe:
1/4 cup of powdered milk (8 grams of protein!!
and 300mg of calcium!)
Coffee mate if desired
caramel SF Da Vinci syrup- any flavor would work
coffee
I make it in a large insulated mug and sip on it. I am so excited to come close to that creamy flavor and to get in some protein and calcium at the same time! Newly post-ops could do this on the mushies stage with decaf coffee. I did it yesterday afternoon with decaf and it was still good.

Ok Happy-if you have an immersion blender mix the milk with a little water first and use that blender on it.....then pour the coffee in. Allright, I'm going to tell you the other thing I do, I put a little benefiber in the milk part-with the blender it gives it a whipped cream texture. I bought one of those steamer cups to mix my milk in, pour it in the mug, pour on the coffee. For me, it's not just the taste thing, it's a texture thing. Once I worked that out, I've gone on a coffee making/tasting spree that has moved beyond starbucks.
Look for low acid coffees though-starbucks has a pretty high acid content and I'm ok with their expresso that they make, but if I make it at home I start hurting in a few days.
