I'm so glad you got to see where you will be living soon and that your first impression was a good one. Everyone is , indeed, very friendly and I think you'll find more than wind farm watching for entertainment ... that might be just as much fun! ; )
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

I'll ask my brother what's up in Weatherford.  He lived there for many years and seemed to enjoy it.

Though W'ford can seem pretty tame, it IS a college town after all.  During the school year they have excellent productions in their fine arts auditorium on the SWOSU campus. If you like to look at Christmas lights, go to Woodward and see Crystal Lake. I forget how many thousands of lights there are on these displays in the park. Going down I-40 on west you arrive in Elk CIty where the shopping is pretty great, too..and Clinton as well. W'ford does have a new movie theatre out by the old drive-in on I-40 West. Elk CIty also has special Christmas lights in its park and has a fantastic community theater currently working on 2 upcoming plays: Joseph and the Aamazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is the next one and during the Christmas Season they are doing Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
