Just a note...when I had my surgery, I was still in need of preparing meals for my family.  Before I went in, I made batches upon batches of soups..chicken soup, turkey, a veggie based one, etc...I strained all solids from the resulting broth, after letting it cook all day and get really yummy.  I froze individual portions to be reheated as necessary.  This was SO much yummier than boullion cubes or canned broth.  Also, the family had their meals already to prepare and eat as well, so I wasn't subjected to spending time in the kitchen when I was trying my hardest to be as far away from it as possible.   Unjury makes an unflavored protein powder that isnt bad added to your broth, as well. Also, I have to agree with those who already posted, SF popsicles ROCK, lol  One thing I did to get more protein, however, was make my own slushie things with the protein nectars available.  Mix them up, put them in a cup in the freezer for a bit, and they get a slush consistency that you can eat with a spoon.  Since it is a lil thicker and sorta crunchy, it seems to halt the "crunch cravings" I had during my liquid phase. OH, and an FYI, I made the mistake of trying to be smart and add a little lemon in my water to spice things up a bit and get a lil flavor going in my regime.  UGH...It tore my up, as it was WAY too acidic on my new pouchie...

Ok man am I glad I went ahead and asked this dumb question!! I had lemon on my list to get for my water!!! I buy it all the time....that and limes!! What great ideas! See, this makes the liquid phase not seem so bad....Being creative with things helps you pull through it!  You sound like me cooking for family ahead of time! I live alone but when I cook....I cook for my kids and take them meals or freeze them and take them to them! The problem is....for this...they won't know how to be creative back because I'm the one who does it all....That's why I have to prepare ahead for myself!! thanks guys! Sherry

Herb Ox boullion is the best.  It is what they give you at Weight Wise.  I almost enjoyed all my boullion dinners.  Blue Bunny popsicles are the best.  Jello is a life saver. Denise

When you are sick of clears and sweets, drop a little chili sauce in your clear broth (just a little)....makes it a fiesta.

Hey Sherry, Here at weight wise when you are on the first two weeks full liquids, we don't worry about your nutrition. We want you to concentrate on your hydration.  We ask that you not worry about consuming a lot of protein unless you feel light headed, hungry, etc, etc. Also we ask that you not add or eat spicy foods. Basically, if it's not on the list, don't consume it. The reason for this is so that you wont eat something to disrupt your staple line or interupt the healing of you new tummy. There will be plenty of time later on to add spice and flavor. Here is a list of what you can have your first two weeks.

Water, Decaffeinated coffee and herbal tea, Crystal light, propel, Fruit2o, Flavor Splash-Aquafina,Dasani flavored water, diet v8 splash, Sugar free flavored water, gelatin, popsicles, kool aid, low sodium broths, splenda, sweet and low, and equal.

Protein Supplements: Bariatrix Ready to drink(Vanilla anytime), Bariatrix Cold Drinks(Grape and Wildberry Passion) New Century Cold Drinks(Chocolate, Pineapple-Orange, Strawberry-KIWI), Low carb slim fast,(creamy chocolate and Vanilla Creme),Atkins Advantage(Chocolate Delight, Cafe Au Lait, Creamy Vanilla, Vanilla Caramel Creme, Strawberry Supreme, Chocolate Royale), Carb solutions ready to drink(Creamy Vanilla, Rich Chocolate

If you feel hungry during the first two weeks, this may be mild dehydration. If you remain hungry after drinking liquids, sip on protein supplements(1-2oz portions every 4 hours only if you are feeling physical hunger.

Hope this helps, Rita

Rita, thank you for giving me all this info! It is such a help, especially since I will be in charge of my own care here....My daughters I'm sure will check in on me, but when I do do this...I need to have what I need. My concern was my tummy and what would be best for it.....I had thought protein was an issue but I understand now how that works.  This was a great help!!!  I wish I wasn't so "Type A" when it comes to things like this...but I am sooooooo.  I am also on a limited budget, so I want to space the purchases out over the weeks ahead so that I am not slammed when it comes time. Again, thank you so much!!  Sherry

I know exactly what you mean. I was by myself as well, but my daughter gave me the hook up and had everything ready for me. Try not to buys lots of stuff because more than likely you may not use it. I particulary enjoyed the sf popsicles, and jello.

i definitly agree with the popsicles and jello because you actually get to "eat" something or so it seems. i have taken a can of chicken noodle soup and drained the broth off and added water, put it in a bowl and ate it with a spoon and i so felt like i was eating a meal with my family. but my family has been eating a lot of takeout food and that is a little hard to be around sometimes. it seems the closer i get to the 2 week mark the more i want to eat so bad. i know once again that it is in my head because i am not hungry. my liquids fill me up but i just want to be able to eat something that i want. but i will get thru this also.
