First Visit Jitters

Well my mind is racing but its not in excitement, its in anxiety.  For some reason, last night this thought popped into my head and i just cant shake it.  I am filled with "What Ifs" right now.  What if I am told I am not a candidate, what if I have a condition that makes me not able to have the surgery.  Things like that.  Has anyone else felt that way before their first meeting?  Am I just being a worry wart?

It's normal, we all have these thoughts.  We can't possibly know about all our inner workings and having to be tested to make sure your a good candidate is mind blowing.  Just remember, even if they find something, it is good to know in advance for planning purposes.  For instance, I discovered I have a heart murmur, never knew!  But the cardologist still cleared me for surgery.  You want the best outcome, and so do the drs.

I thank God everyday for the tests they make you do before surgery approval.  My sweet Vince found out he had 3 blocked arteries and needed triple bypass surgery after seeing the cardiologist for his clearance. The cardiologist told me I was lucky I wasn't a widow!!  We've only been married 3 years in April. He had his heart surgery in October and had his gastric bypass today.  I am on my to see him at the hospital now.   I think we all see WLS as our last resort and we fear that we will be denied that saving grace.  It's normal. Hang in there!!!  Very few people get refused. Take care! Diana

I still have the jitters, and I am sure I will all the way to the surgery room!!!!  Its normal hang in there.

I had all the "what if's" too.  The shortly after I had the "what the h**l have I done's"  Know that they both are normal.  I am just over 2 mths out now and I am happy that I had my surgery and I am starting to really notice the difference in my eating and my attitude toward food.  It is for living but it is no longer my life. 

YOU ARE GOING TO BE FINE!!! Repeat this to yourself!  You are going to be fine.  If you werent nervous it would make me nervous for you sweetie!  Just relax and know that you are young, prepared and ready to make the changes in your life to change your life for good!  We are there with you in spirit.
