Well... I've learned that unless I make as much  money as a bariatric surgeon , I can't afford to support my entire family on my income alone.  Anthony is in school full-time and due to his course-load, isn't able to work. so I announced Monday morning that by the time they all got out of school, I was going to have a second job.  Sure enough...I'm now a part-time cashier at Homeland.  Nothing like good 'ol minimum wage jobs to keep a gal grounded.  I started the job on Tuesday. The nice thing about this is that I'm making a little extra money, while staying away from the fridge AND keeping on my feet.  Although I won't be able to go to Pacer as much anymore, I think standing for 4 hours and moving my arms across a conveyer belt should count as a little exercise See you in the grocery lines! I've always wanted to do that.  I have this weird desire to work odd jobs and see what they are like.  If I could stand for that long, I d' do it in a minute. A career counselor told me You are not your work, you are HOW you work-so do a good job!

Congrats on the job!!  I've been toying around with getting a part-time job, but dh doesn't want me to I worked for Hastings for 2 years about 3 years ago and they STILL ask me when I'm coming back!  In case you aren't familiar with Hastings, it is a store that sells books, movies, magazines, software, and novelties.  They also have a rental department that rents movies and books on tape.  www.gohastings.com  I think when school starts up next fall I'm going to get on the list of substitute teachers.  I'll do 4th grade and up.  No younger kids! I've always wanted to be a teacher.  I still think about going back to school to get my degree.  I want to be a secondary English/Literature teacher.  I would like to teach English to 6th through 12 grade :o)  Doesn't that sound fun!!  woo hoo!  I"m getting excited thinking about it!
