AWWWW Debi. {{{{{{HUGS}}}}} I know that it is easy for me to say, but pretty soon this discomfort will be a distant memory. Everyday will get better and better. Keep your eye on the big prize and try not to let it take you down.  You are in my prayers.  I'm glad that you have people to help out. If you need to take the pain pills then take them. It is very temporary and rest is a good thing. (My philosophy only. Take Care~~ Diane

I am sorry for your pain. I feel lucky to have had Lap RNY w/ Caruana's former partner, Panamanglore. Very little pain & only took 2-3 Loratabs the day I got home. However, I had three open abdominal surgeries in the past & I remember all too well how bad the pain was!! You are so right about trying to go #2...OUCH!! That was when I realized what those handrails in the hospital bathroom was there for...LOL I used a stool softner after I had the open surgeries & it helped. Best of luck to you!

Debi, I too was in a lot of pain post-op, and I can usually handle pain. I called the doc, told him how much I hurt, and he doubled my lortab. I felt so much better and only needed the higher dose for a few days.

feel better soon!

hugs,

P.S., I don't think we can relate amount of pain to a particular doctor. I had no gas pain whatsoever, but a lof of left side pain. My roomate was filled w/gas, but after 1 day took no pain meds. (same doc.)

We're all different and our bodies react differently to the same surgery.
