Hello everyone I am about 3 weeks away form surgery, and I am just in sthe stocking up stage.  Please fill me in in the most needed things I better buy now for after my surgery.  I am starting my high protein diet for 3 weeks prior this week, so my adjusting has begun.  I apreciate everyone's input. Thanks always Shara

Shara. Hi, I wouldn't buy to much. Just buy it as you need it. because your taste change and you get sick of things fast. Like I bought all different types of jello and didn't even finish one box. I bought different kinds of popsicles couldn't stand them after two days. I bought differnt flavors of pudding only ate a couple containers. You can only eat 1 oz at a time so 1 container of jello or pudding last you for a couple of days. So just by some pudding ,some jello,1 pkg of popsicles and 1pkg of fugicles all of course no sugar added. splenda is fine. And a couple cans of cream of potatoe soup.some cottage cheese. and make some hard boiled eggs for some egg salad use light mayo. I hope this helps. Sheila

Hi Shara Yes, your taste does change a lot What you want to do is go to   www.vitaldy.com and purchase protein smaple packs.  Don't buy any big jugs unless you know you are going to like them.

A lot depends on your doc's instructions too, SHara. We are not allowed anything other than clear liquids and skim milk for the first 2 weeks, then full liquids(including thinned puddings and soups) for the next two...and progressing bit by bit after that. So it really depends o your surgeon's recommended post-op diet. Right now, I can have broths, skim milk, s.f. jello, s.f. popsicles, decaf coffee and tea, and 100% real and transparent juices- like apple and orange, no protein powders or bars for awhile yet.

Hi, I agree totally with Sheila...you tastes are odd right after surgery.  I had the same problem with the jello and popcicles.  The artificial sugar was hard to tolerate.  I ate alot of cream soups, scrambled eggs and lo-fat cottage cheese.  I drank skim milk with sugar free Carnation Breakfast...it tasted good.   Good Luck...we are here for you for any questions you might have....this surgery literally changed my life...for the good! hi Shara, I used to have a list of Post-Op stuff I had needed and wish I knew I would need! I can't find it but I do recall some stuff, unrelated to Protein. This list was based on my surgery; I went home with 2 drains and had them for a week. 2 x 2 gauze sponge pads bandage tape disposable gloves (I wore them when changing the dressings) CHEWABLE Gas-X Sugar Free Sucrets (my throat was **so** sore after surgery; it hurt more than my tummy!) Pill crusher Baby spoons (Yes! Helps to eat slowly) Shower spongy thingie on a long handle (made for washing in the shower without bending) If I think of more things, I'll add them. Keep in mind: you may not have to change dressings, you may not have a sore throat, but I am willing to bet you'll have gas pains! Best of luck, Karen
