Hi I am interested in the lapband and live in Buffalo. I am interested in Doctor's in the area that perform this surgery. I am aware of  Dr Posner and if you know anything about him please post. The doctor in Rochester is gone now but he was going to make me waite 1 year to follow a diet first. Thanks

I am going to Dr. Posner - yes the wait is long. First you go to the seminar. Then you have to go to the shrink, sleep study if warranted, nutritionist and physical therapist that work at Buf Gen for Dr. Posner.  Then you have to go on SouthBeach diet for a while and THEN you finally get an appointment with Dr. Posner.  A co-worker had her surgery done by him and she said the wait is definitely worth it - he is amazing.  I have gone through all the pre-op stuff.  I have an appointment with him the end of August.  I have heard only good things about him .  I figure that It took me a long time to get this way so a few more weeks won't hurt.  Good things come to those who wait!     Diane

Hi I wa looking into this a couple of years ago with him when he was first starting at ECMC. I wish I would have continued. I did what I always do I thought I would do it on my own. Anyway, how long has it been for you from the seminar. I went to one in NYC if you can believe it with DR Ren. thanks

I believe the seminar was in the end of March, and my appointment was May 1st.  There I was weighed, saw the nutritionist, PT, and got the instructions for lab work, psychologist, south beach diet, etc.   My appointment with Dr. Posner is at the end of August--it could have been sooner but because of work I had to do it then.  So once I go in the end of August they will schedule the surgery. Sometimes it takes a while - I would just keep calling until they answer!

I am new here, my daughter is a member and has lost 72# ! Dr. Mecenas did her surgery, but they don't take Medicaid. I found a hospital Arnot-Ogden in Elmira.  There is a Dr. Moon but he doesn't do lap bands. Does anyone know of a Dr in the Western Tier of NY? The Finger Lakes area? I want this to go on, but w/out  a Dr????? Thanks for your help
