Photo of Tina Ferrante My name is Tina, and I had RNY on May 29th 2007. I am 7 and a half weeks out of surgery. I am really nervous because I have not lost any weight in 3 weeks. I understand that there are times when you will have stalls, but I did not think that they would occur this early or for this long. Has anyone else had this problem this early? am I done losing weight? How do I know what to do to get me started losing again? All of your input would be appreciated. Thanks. Hugz Tina

Tina, I'm sorry you are feeling sad. I am only 17 days post op, but the only thing I can suggest is to eat more protein if possible. And try to excerise more if you can . Did you know that a one minute kiss burns 26 callories. That was on the cap of my diet snapple.Remember your body is adujusting to major changes that are going on in your body. Watch you will get on the scale next week and see a loss. Don't wory your are not done loosing weight. How much have you lost so far? Sheila

Tina, if you'll go back & read some of my posts, you'll see that the EXACT same thing happened to me. I was convinced that I was the only person in history who RNY didn't work for! I was stuck for over 2 weeks and that was only after being weighed 10 days post op!

I am losing, but slowely. My BMI is on the low side, so I'm just trying to accept tha****ER & protein are so key. If we do what we're supposed to do, we'll lose the weight.

Take care,

Thank you Karen! I went and read some of your previous posts and see that you did indeed go through what I am going through. Thanks for bringing to my attention that I am not the only person who is going through this. Good luck with your future success. Hugz Tina

Hi Tina. Don't be so upset especially if your Doctor is satisfied with your progress.  You seem to be coming along just fine.  I found a noticeable difference when I started to up my activity, increase my water intake and believe it or not I realized that I wasn't eating enough. (Gotta love that!)   But check with the nutritionist first. When was the last time that you dieted and lost 30 some odd pounds in 7 and a half weeks? Keep things in perspective and hide the scale. Smile, you are on the right track. Take Care~~ Diane

Tina - Don't stress. I average about 15 pounds a month, and ended up 25 pounds below my  orginal goal. Things just seem to eventually even out. Donna  open rny mar 18 2003 282/144/140

Hi,     That was about the same time I hit my first plateau and put a very similiar question on here. Hang in there. It is completely normal. I did find that when I upped the protein and drank more water ,I lost more quickly. I know it sounds crazy...eat more to lose...but somehow it is true. Hang in there this too will pass. Kier
