Well, I guess today is my first official meeting with the surgeon.  I will be attending his seminar and hopefully a lot of my questions will be answered.  Has anyone attended one of these seminars?  Is it just a seminar or will they actually weight you and all and get you started???  I am very, very excited to begin this journey!!!

Hi, Lili! Good luck today!  I have my first seminar meeting, too, with Dr. Thad Boss here at Highland Hospital.  We'll have to exchange notes on how things went when the day is done!  I'm not exactly sure what to expect -- I know that I had to fill out some paperwork and whatnot in preparation. I'm very excited, and a little nervous.  I'm hopeful this is just the first step. Anyhow, good luck!! - Col

A seminar is just a group seminar.  You won't actually get down to business until you've made an appt for your official consultation one-on-one with your doctor.  That is when you will get a folder containing all the pre-op work you will have to get done specific for your cir****tances/insurance, etc.  Good luck!!  This is only the beginning.  Bring your patience with you :-)

Oh at this seminar they did give us the packets actually.  We got a blue folder with 10 appointments that i have to go to and who to call.  For each specialist there was like 3 names listed and it great because they are all local.  It was so informative and they even gave us samples of great insurance letters from our PCP that we can type up and have them sign and they have like 95% approvals rate so that was great.  Dr. Cussati answered every question, even my hard question to ask about his mortality rate.  But at .03% I was quite the happy camper.  He let us hold a lap band too but I definatly want the bypass after that.  I think that knowing there is dumping syndrome is a big plus in my book.  So, now I have to go back to him after allof my appts. atre completed but I have them all scheduled in the next 3 weeks.  The only thing that stinks is that I have 4 more months of monthly PCP weight in to do.  Unreal.  Thank you so much for all of your advice and it really helped me pick the right surgeon and procedure!!!  You are all fantastic!!!!!!!! xoxoxoxoxo
