Well I did it I made it out alive. Open RNy is the most painful thing I heve ever eperienced. Every time I move it hurts. from siting t o standing. I can not get comfy in any positon. THis computer chair isn't so bad. I would not widh this pain on my worse enemy. THe drain tube didn't even hurt coming out. I am drinking broths water and popsiciles, with no problems even jello. I have also taken my pain pills swallowing them with water .I just cut them in half. Gettin uncomfy. Talk later. sheila

Hi Sheila,

I'm so sorry that you are in pain.  I hope this time passes quickly for you.  It's too bad that your doc didn't do it laproscopicly.  I know several people who also went to dr's that only did it open and still they feel it was the best thing they've ever done, so hang on and congrats that you're surgery is over.  I wish you a speedy recovery! Maryellen:)

Shelia;      I am sorry that you are so uncomfortable.  I hope it passes quickly for you.   I hope you don't feel that I purposely misguided you.  My daughter and I both had very little pain.  We are all just very different though and pain effects everyone differently.   I am sorry it is harder for you.  Before you know it you won't even need the pain pills and you will forget about the pain.        Sounds like your doing great with the drinking and eating.  Keep up the good work and keep walking. WELCOME HOME!! What good news to hear that you are out of the hospital! It's awesome to see that you had enough energy to post on the board!!!  Keep sipping and walking and before you know it, the pain will be a thing of the past!  Another loser for the bench, make sure there is space for me when I finally get my surgery!! Congrats, Lisa

Welcome home. Even though I had lap, I had a lot of pain too. We're all different. Make sure you're on enough pain meds--when I was still in a lot of pain after a few days home, I called the doc and he upped the dose. It seems they send everyone home on a low-ish dose of meds. It helped a lot to get through the next week.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hi Sweetie,
Sorry to hear your still in pain. Is it getting a little better? Why didn't they give you the liquid meds?
Give me a call when you feel up to it. I don't want to bother you if you don't feel like talking.
Take it easy and let the dh wait on you a bit....LOL

Sheila, Welcome home!  I'm sorry you are in such pain...but, trust me...every day gets better.  I found that sitting in my recliner was the most comfortable. Just remember...you are on your way to your new life....take care, Rosemary
