I am curious what people eat for healthy snakes (other then the typical fruit and veggies).   I am 6 weeks post op (open RNY) and it seems that almost everything that we can snack on has carbs.  I have already discovered that if I eat carbs I don't loose like I should    I have my two protein shakes a day and take my vitimans, but sometimes you just really want to munch on something.    Would love any suggestions.    My surgeon says no nuts or popcorn yet. Thanks Sally

I know what you mean.  I would love to "crunch" on something.  I have a dr. appt on the 16th, hopefully I will be cleared then.  Anyway, I usually snack on light cheese sticks or cottage cheese.  I also love the no sugar added fudge pops.

I can't really recommend anything for ya because our surgeon and nutrtionist don't recommend snacking. It can lead to other things that you may not have control over.  Stay away from the popcorn. The kernals are no good for your pouch. If you insist on snacking, have sugar free ice pops or fudge pops. They are no calorie items and you can have as many as you want.

Hi Sally. I don't ever eat healthy SNAKES!   Ewwww!  (LOL) (Go back and read typo error) I'm making a funny....couldn't resist. Anyway, kidding aside, I like my S/F pops and a very few almonds that have to be chewed as long as I used to chew gum. It seems that way anyhow. It fills me because it's protein and at least it is something to do with my mouth. Healthy too. I have not had any carbs except those in legumes of which I eat a lot of. I still don't trust myself. Take Care~~ Diane

I like nuts like almonds. I have found if I want something savory a cup of buttermilk does the trick and if I want something sweet I'll have fruit.

Soy crisps? My nut lets (or wil in 2 more weeks) me have them in lieu of a protein supplement. they're nice & crunchy.

My mother had bypass.  She has about 4 fat free sour cream and onion pringles.  She says they take care of her crunch munch.....And if you limit yourself there shouldn't be an issue.  She had a stristure and so she has had a hard time digesting certain fruits and veggie's.  These seem to work for her

I eat soy crisps with a bit of spreadable cheese (asiago, port wine...whatever!)  on them. It is crunchy, savory and has quite bit of protien : )
