NEED SOME FOOD IDEAS

Hi all, Well I am 9 weeks post op and having a problem finding good things to eat.  I feel like I am in a rut, always eating the same things.  I am looking for some ideas. I seem to be having an issue with chicken all of a sudden where I wasn't initially.  I am on a soup kick.  When all else fails I know I can tolerate soup with chicken and veggies in it.  I also like tomato soup with low fat cheese melted in it, but I am not sure these are the healthiest choices.   I can finally tolerate eggs, but again I can only eat them so much in a week before I want to hurl!  I have tried shrimp and scallops and thrown up on both, maybe I didn't chew well enough, I don't know.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Janet

Hiya Janet, I hope these suggestions help you... try ricotta cheese cold with splenda or equal for a nice sweet treat. or  ricotta cheese warmed with tomato sauce, a sliced meatball with shredded mozzerella...yummy! or  fat free refried beans with a couple of teaspoons of cream cheese and shredded taco cheese microwaved or peanut butter with banana slices these food are fun for me to eat and don't require too much chewing enjoy! Hi MaryEllen, Just wanted to let you know I tried your suggestion (ricotta cheese warmed with tomato sauce, a sliced meatball with shredded mozzerella.).  I used Turkey meatballs and it was delicious!  Tonight I am trying the refried beans recipe...yum!    Thanks! Janet

Hi Janet,
Here are some more ideas:-Cheese sticks-Yogurt-Chili-Tuna with mayo-Sliced turkey rolled up with some lettuce and mayo-Beans of all kinds-Tofu with veggies-Hummus
I know some surgeons want you to get all protein from food sources, but when you have tolerance issues, a protein shake a day sure helps you keep up with reccomended protein amounts. I use Unury unflavored with frozen banana, skim milk, and splenda.
Hope this helps and that you are feeling good!
Hugs and kisses,Amy

There are some wonderful cookbooks for WLS. I have Recipes for Life After Weight-Loss Surgery that was bought at Barnes & Nobles and I LOVE IT!! I'm only a week postop and can't wait to start cooking from it. It has breakfast, lunch, dinner, deserts, appetizers, shakes, etc....

I found fish to be a huge help to be because it pretty much squishes itself...salmon, tilapia, flounder i eat and ate them all that stage. SF apple sauce, ketchup, low sugar teriyaki helped it all go down. I don't think soup is a bad choice just not chock full of proteins!  The warm ricotta saved me many many times. I had no trouble with vegetarian chili.  Have a great night. ANDI
