Does anyone have any suggestions for locating a reasonable nurtritionist or dietician? My insurance will not cover unless you are diagnosed as a diabetic.  I recently diagnosed as a potential (boderline) diabetic high blood sugar level, with possible high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.  Voila this is the reason for my decision for WLS.  So far I have found no one under $500 for a consul, this is crazy.  Has anyone else hads this problem. All suggestions greatly appreciated.   TIA **fatkitten**

Um, where do you live? My insurance covered my nutritionist consult, but I know without it it would have cost a little over $100. My best suggestion is that if you find a surgeon, sometimes they have their own nutritionist there that you could see. I dont know if your insurance would cover that though.

Hello Alexx, Thanks.  I have 2 nutritionists from my surgeon their both listed under my insurance but I will have to pay out of pocket.  One charges $100 and the other $150.  My insurance will only cover for a nutrionist if your diabetic which I am not.  Oh well this is the last needed item of my pre-op.  I have to stop b.s.'ing and get it done. Thanks much anyway!

Hi Tia, I have been going to see Dr. Prichep in Patchogue, which I see you are right around the corner from me. Everyone in the office is great there and they have a nutritionist on staff there her name is Barbara and she is GREAT!!! I have just made my appt. today for my nutritional consultation, but the office staff told me they are not covered by insurance like you said however the fee is only $75.00. The office is called the CORI Center and Surgical Solutions for Weight Loss. I would def recommend them to anyone and I have just begun my process with them. Let me know if you need any other information. ~Nicole~

Hey thanks Nicole.  I will call Monday and make an appt for the nutrionist.  I've been done with all of the other required pre-op items needed.  As soon as this is completed, it just the authoriation from the insurance company and my surgery date.  I'm so ready to get this over with, but having second thoughts now.
