Support Groups and Insurance?

Hello All! I am still new to all of this. My consult is not until 7/9/07. I have started to get medical records, diet records... I want it all ready for the time of my visit.  2 questions. 1. Does anyone know of a good support group on Long Island? I would like to go to one before my appointment as I have lots of questions! 2. My next question are for those with Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield- PPO. Any difficulties, problems, unforseen issues...? I would love to hear about your experiences, good or bad. Laurenma...hi there!  Congrats on taking the first steps.  I would ask you surgeons office if they have or know of support groups.   Not sure on the insurance...but  I wish you a ton of luck babe!

There's a bariatric support group at Good Samaritan Hospital in W Islip which meets every other Saturday from 9am-10:30 am.  Its for pre-ops, post-ops and anyone just considering surgery.  The next meeting is next Sat June 16. Which surgery are you having?  There are also lapband support groups on LI as well.   Let me know if you need any info on these meetings... Dee

Thank you so much. I think I would likt to try for Saturday the 16th. I am leaning towards the RNY but have not ruled out any options at this time. That is why I would like to go to a support group. Thank you again!
