!!!Stressed!!!!

Hi. I went throught the same thing I couldn't decide what wls to have. At first I was dead set on getting the lapband. Then after doing research and taking to other lap banders and alot of forums. I changed my mind and decided to do the Rny. my reasons were that I didn't want to get fills every 6 weeks or so and have to have liquaidas again for a couple days. I didn't think it would give me the amt of weight loss I wanted to achieve, I didn't think that I would be dedicated to getting my fills all the time, I was afraid it wouldn't restict me from eating some of the foods that I like to eat. With the Rny it would resctrict me from those types of foods. It is a very personal decision that you have to make. There are many lapbanders who have great sucess. It just wasn't the right choice for me and I am glad I decided to have open rny on July 2nd. If you have any other questions please let me know.i'm sure what ever decision you make you will have great sucess. Sheila
I think everyone who has had surgery, whichever type it has been, is pretty sure that they had the best surgery for them. I always wanted the lap band. My highest weight was 246. I was always an athlete, who let myself get out of hand with my eating when I had 4 major loses in my life. I knew I would be able to control myself with lapband. For me to get to the point of wanting surgery to better my life, I knew I was/am going to use my self control!

So far, less than one month out, I have lost 22 pounds plus the 17 before surgery, so 39 pounds and have gone from a size 24 to a 16. Tonight, I went back to CURVES for the first time. I know I will hit my goal someday! I have total determination!
You will know when you have made your decision that it's the right one for you. Please educate yourself as best you can and don't be afraid to ask questions of EVERYONE!
Bottom line for me is that I wasn't honest enough with the first doctor I interviewed when he asked "can you keep away from the ice cream?" I think that for people for whom sweets isn't the majority of the problem, the band might be a more viable tool.
I also think that it depends on your size/BMI. The band does have a slower weight loss weight in the beginning, although I believe it evens out after --2 years, I'm thinking???
They are both tools--I know it can be tough to make the decision. What does your doctor say, and has he/she done a lot of both?
