OT/personal...cafeinne vs. bladder control

This may be TMI for some... Just wondering if this is all in my head.... Ever since I was pregnant with my dd and it felt like she was squishing my bladder from day one, I have worn a panti-liner or it's larger counterpart to counteract the effects. I had the tests done and it could be rectified with a sling of sorts, but would need to be redone after significant wt. loss. So I wait in waders. But....in preparation for this surgery, I have given up caffeine and have noticed a vast improvement! Conversely, there is an immediate difference with even one caffeinated drink. Am I imagining this or has anyone else experienced the same thing? Sheesh, ya know you're sisters when I can ask a question like this!

Hi There. You are absolutely not imagining it. I've noticed it too. In fact I made such a complete turn around that people close to me have commented. (Like not having to go to a store and first thing hit the rest room etc.)   This happened while preparing before surgery. If you think about it though, caffiene is considered a diuretic so it makes sense. Yet another added benefit from eating right. Take Care~~ Diane

Yay! Thanks Diane! Glad to know it will likely last and maybe we avoid that particular surgery altogether! The only effect caffiene ever had on me was frequent bathroom runs, no buzz to be found. Not missing that at all! And I have found Tom's Coffee and Gifts, in Binghamton, sells the most amazing flavored decaf beans- totally yum!

http://www.healthcentral.com/incontinence/c/45/1870/caffeine / Caffine is a bladder irritant.  Its not in your head.  Best of luck to you. LisaMarie

You are not imagining it at all.  If I drink more coffee than usual in the a.m., I make about 5 trips to the ladies room.  If I'm not close enough, watch out!
