Lenox Hill
I did... by Dr Shah.
the staff was GREAT... you will be in what I believe they call the "surgical step-down unit" which is kind of a half-way between ICU and general.... basically, the nurse/patient ratio is better than a "regular" room, but not as much as the ICU.
The only thing I would have liked was for a private room. most (possibly all?) of the rooms in the step-down are semi-private, which means that you'll have a roommate. hit or miss... you could have a great roommate, or a real sucky one.
The beds are basic hospital type beds... quite uncomfortable for any length of time, and rather hot since the mattresses are a vinyl covering to make them more sanitary. I was there in mid november and sweat my tail off in the room.... do yourself a favor and bring a small fan that you can set on your night table. You'll be glad you did.
Good luck.
Like sean said the surgical step down unit has a lower nurse to patient ratio...i had a private room..and it made all the difference. I loved the fact that I didn't have to share with anyone...lol. Dr. Roslin had his own nurse practitioner there that looks out for the patients (at least when I had my surgery). I hope that everything goes well for you...Dr. R is a great surgeon.
