Dating Post Op
Ok I am looking for advice I am ready to get back in the dating scene since I finally feel better about myself. I am curious if anyone can tell me how to handle the WLS topic? I am worried about going out to dinner and how do I handle the why don't you eat question? I really dont think it's anyones business and would share it with someone if we hit it off but in the beginning I dont want to tell.
Thanks for any advice you can give
Hi Lisa.
You don't have to give out any information with someone new right at the start. Just say that you are making a conscious effort to eat more healthier.
You are also allowed to hit your date over the head if they order a bacon cheeseburger deluxe with fries!
I agree with Cheri that maybe starting out with stopping for coffee might be an easier first choice.
Take Care~~

Lisa,
It's not unusual for a woman to only eat part of her meal....it's just that most of us are new to that concept hehehehe.
Odd as it seems, most people won't find it unusual if you leave most of the meal over.
Try to order something that is on the smaller side. Maybe a salad....or an appetizer, stating that you're not very hungry.
Personally, I wouldn't say I was dieting or watching what I eat. That opens the door to oodles of advice and opinions....most of which don't even apply to us. That's just me though. I'd feel deceitful sitting there hearing how the new Pasta Diet was the way to go!!!
Anyway....good luck! I'm in the same boat. I'm doing a Speed Dating the 3rd week in June .
Oh one more thing: if you decide you are going to drink alcohol...don't wait until the date to try it for the first time!!! That is advice I was given, and it's smart. I'm not advocating alcohol but the fact is, many people DO drink. So....if you plan on it, test it in the safety of your home first!!

Thank You Everyone! I think I will try the meet for a coffee route. I am 3 months post op and still have a really hard time eating so I think even if I ordered something small it would be very obvious plus I would be afraid of getting sick which happens every once in a while. My doctor says I am doing fine but I get frusturated when I see people that had the surger arround me and can eat almost anything I still stick to softer foods and supliment with protien drinks. I'll keep you all updated maybe I will finally find the man of my dreams! Lisa
The eating issue and dating is a good question, not a easy thing being single!
I would say the coffee shop meet would be the best bet, and if you go out to eat just get something small and soft on the menu, maybe something on the appetizer list. I was just at the casino this past weekend with friends and it was tuff watching them eat all they can on seafood at the buffet and here I am with one crab cake and a shrimp..lol
It's not easy! I need to give it a try soon
