I was off for 3 weeks total.  I could have gone back after two, but my dr. and I decided on 3.  It all depends on your job and how you feel.

Hi Teresa I'm Jennifer. My surgery is June 5th also!!!  I am having an Open RNY as opposed to lap RNY.  Which are you having??? I think it will all depend on how your procedure is done and how you physically feel afterwards.  Don't forget to give yourself some adequate healing time.  Good luck on Tuesday!!!!!

Hello! Congrats on your upcomming surgery.  I has Lap RNY on Tuesday February 20th and went back to work on Tuesday February 27th,  I did do short days (5 hours) for the first week back.  I manage a hotel so it was mostly desk work and catching up on paperwork, e-mails and phone calls not very strenious.  I asked my doctor and he told me to take it as I could and that is what I did.   I would just ask your doctor and if you have a flexible job like me take it day by day if you have to leave early do it don't push yourself! A little off the topic.  I see your surgeon is Dr. Roslin, I was considering him, but decided on Dr. Kini @ Mt . Sinai.  May I ask why Dr. Roslin? Shara

I chose Dr. Roslin after meeting three other surgeons two from NYU & another from Mt. Sinai.   Dr. Roslin listened to me and I was at ease the moment I met him. He took into consideration my conditions (PCOS) & family history of heart disease. The staff at his office are second to none and were/are helpful & always available.  Dr. Roslin was more than happy to work with my own PCP, endocrinologist and psychiatrist he didn't push his own people on me like the other doctors. Also his record as a surgeon is impeccable & patients have had great success with maintance.

Hiya Teresa!  I could have returned in a few days!!!  I never used sick time or medical leave.  BUT and this is a big but...we're treated so poorly by upper management, I took 2 weeks vacation!  LOL
