Trying to Hang in There...

My center just called with a response from my insurer...BCBS said that because I had a history of depression (pfft! It was called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and was due to trying to hold my family together when my husband fell from our silo when I was 5.5 mos pregnant, broke his back and both legs, my dd was born Deaf, husband then had to have pulverized leg amputated, sold family farm and were without insurance and income while he went back to school, dd had surgery AND I was homeschooling my two sons - all within a span of about 18 mos!), they want me to have further psych evaluation! Mind you, all that happened almost 8 yrs ago!!! I think I did really well at holding the family together and only needing a year of counseling to manage all that CRAP! But now this process has to drag out even longer than the 5 mos it has already to find a psychologist, get an eval and resubmit to the insurer again! Crying in my decaf, but mad enough to get over it and go for a walk. One more hoop to jump though I guess. If I can get through all of that, I guess this should feel like a walk in the park, eh? Still bites!

Yes that really does bite hun but you sound like you have it together and you WILL get through this next step! Once you go for the 2nd eval you will show them just how TOGETHER you really are if you did all of THAT!   I wish you did not have to go through this hun but know we are here for you to vent, yell, cry or whatever you need to do! Keep us posted!

Thank you, Debra and Liz, the enouragement really helps. I just called to see if it's covered and it is, so I guess as long as it's my time and their dime, I can deal. I just hope it doesn't take weeks to get into seeing one! My center is trying to track one down for me. They have been a huge help. I had to go through a psych eval with them, but apparently BCBS wants me to bear my soul. I get it, I really do...they want to make sure I'm committed to the post-WLS changes...but criminy! I could have been doing all this months ago!

Hang in there.  I know it sucks and insurance companies will make you jump through a lot of hoops before they approve you.  I had to jump through many!  But hang in there and stay strong.  As I was told "Be the "squeaky" wheel that gets heard and eventually they will get tired of you and approve you".  This is a good place to vent and I'm rooting for you all the way.

(((((HUGS)))) You can do this babe! You are so committed and they can make you do whatever they can but you are STRONG!!!!   I think your post says just how STRONG you are!  You are going to breeze through this.  No worries.  Maybe even call the BCBS and tell them that was 8 yrs ago and appeal for that?  Ask for a supervisor...(((HUGS)))

hi there!!!!!!!!!!! i understand what you are going thru. i am at that crossing, also. i see my surgeon next week, and then approval. i am on effexor, antidepressant, also.  i am doing wondeful on it and my pcp is a tremedous support. but then, there is the insurance factor.  i really see that all of you have such great insight and support in your answers.  keep following our friends here, and everything will turn out all right, in the right time. i will follow them, also... we are all angels to each other. i am grateful you asked the question and  as grateful to see the answers. it is not the mountain we have to climb that is the problem, but the little pebbles along the way that get in our shoes  luv and hugs, christina

Thank you, Chelle and Christina. "It is not the mountain we have to climb that is the problem, but the little pebbles along the way that get in our shoes" I LOVE that! I will remember that and every pebble I pick out of my shoes will be so worth it when I see the view from the top!
