Sipping too fast??????

How can you tell if you are sipping your liquids too fast?  I am still in stage 1 and have the phobia that I am going to stretch my pouch by sipping too much liquid too fast...trying to be good and get all of the required protein shake  and H2O in...just don't want to mess anything up. I don't have cramping, or pain after I drink and I don't feel like throwing up... Just wondering how others gauge their sips Thanks  NoraLynn

NoraLynn, OH you would know if you gulped to much water at one time  I would not worry about stretching out that pouch with the water! For me I just always had the water bottle around and made sure I took small sips every couple of mins. Even now if I drink to much to quickly it lets me know.

Well I hope that helped some........Take care

Noralynn, just keep listening to your body.  I knew when I sipped too much and we have had two different surgeries.  ((hugs))

Hi Noralynn, Just as everyone said.......you will know when you're full. Your tummy will not let you get another drop into it. I know that you worry but it sounds as if you are doing all the right things. Take Care~~ Diane

Oh Honey, you would know if you gulp too fast. And yyou can't stretch your pouch for that. liquids go through you a lot faster than food. I found the after surgery, if I stood up when i drank, I could take a good long slow drink without getting the pain. Don't be afraid to take a mouth full. But if you do it fast and hard, your pain will come. the only thing that I know of in liquids that would stretch the pouch is carbonation. Carbonation will stretch the distal end of the pouch, thus allowing your food to go through quicker making you feel full for a shorter time than normal. Plus, carbonation hurts your chest anyway. Well, at least it does mine. i just took a tiny sip one day and man, the crap hurt.
