appt with pcp

I had my appointment with my pcp yesterday. She is all for surgery. She checked my blood pressure and it was 160/100. Havent had a problem with bp before. When I went to 1st consult May 15 it was 128/100. The doctor put me on bp medicine right there. Also had to have blood work this morning. I have to go back Tuesday for results and EKG.  Christine

Great to have her support!!!  Looks like they're getting loads of stuff out of the way.  I don't where you live compared to your PCP, but if it were me, I'd pop in a couple times for bp checks.  I know our public health department will do bp checks free.  I would suspect every county's PH office would.   The meds will help for sure!

Hi Christine. Well the good news is that you have a doctor  willing to work with you toward the goal of surgery.  If your insurance company requires it, make sure that the PCP documents weight loss attempts and exercise right from the get go. You must be so upset with the B/P problem. Hopefully the meds will get it under control and you might even be able to toss the old bottle after your weight loss begins. Who Knows? Wow, it's great to have support isn't it?!!  I know I was apprehensive to go to my PCP about the surgery, only to find out she thought it was a good idea too!   Hope all works out with your BP.  My dh had it for two years.  He lost over 75 lbs and has been off meds now for 2 years.  Same thing could happen to you!!  Good Luck!!
