Hi, I am new to this site. I just finished all my testing and have lost all my weight, nowI am waiting to be discharged from my clinical nutritionist, that should happen on 6/6/07. then I meet again with Dr. S....., and hopefully I will have a surgery date in July!! it has been a long winter , with all the tests and phyc. evaluatio. I am very nervous about this, it will change my life, I hope I can handle it, any suggestions to calm my nerves?

Hi Darlene and WELCOME. CONGRATS on getting through the tests and such. You will be going through a roller coaster of emotions before all is said and done. Of course this is to be expected, after all, it is a life changing event. Just keep researching all you can about the WLS and keep posting questions and thoughts on this board. There are so many supportive and caring people here...you'll see. I for one don't know if I could have done half as well without this site. Try to maintain your weight loss or it will be that much more to lose after surgery. You have all of the test work out of the way...so that's good. Somehow, someway it all comes together and you just go with the flow. You will be just fine. We are all here for you.~~ Diane

Hi Darlene, I am a newbie as well. I just finished all of my preop testing and plan on having surgery on the 5th of June. For me, getting involved with others whom have had the surgery has helped. Whether it is a colleague or support group. I set little goals of things I will get to do again. I think to myself, "What has really effected me the most with this additional weight?" and "What do I miss doing the most?" What are some of your goals? Small steps make the stairway. You just choose the path. You made a decision to have this surgery. We have our preops out of the way. Then the surgery, and then the weight loss. You have thousands of supporters. All you need to do is reach out. All the best for you! Carol

Darlene, Congrats hun and you should be getting your date soon that feels awesome and I know that excited and nervous feeling For me writting things down really helped, I was so stressing over having the surgery though I knew it is what I REALLY wanted. I was still having a hard time with it soooo I started to journal. It really seems to help and well I have to be honest, I also asked my PC to give me something that would help me relax right before surgery and it sure helped as well. Keep us posted hun Debra P
