Looking for information and support

Hi, everyone, I am new to the boards but have been following for a few months. I am going to have surgery soon (July 6th) I am both nervous and excited at the same time. I can't think of anything else, its hard to concentrate. I am hoping to meet new friends who share will share their thoughts and experience. Thanks for reading.

Hi, I am pretty new here also. I also live in Queens. I see you are scheduled with Dr. Kini. Have you met any other surgeons and considered them. I had a consult with Kini but had to cancel. I appreciate your feedback. I have met with Dr. Roslin @ Lennox Hill Hospital.

Hi There!!! I am a little past "new" here too!!!!! My advise is to read and post and read and post....everyone here is VERY SUPPORTIVE, FRIENDLY and KNOWLEDGEABLE!!! I know I don't speak just for myself when I tell you....."nervous and excited".....you are Normal!!!! I am having Lap RNY on June 1st in Westchester Medical Center....We are practically neighbors!!!!!!! Talk to ya soon!!! Jane

Hi Shara, Welcome to this journey! I actually had an appt to see Dr Merola and missed his information session so I went to the one given by Dr Kini At Mt Sinai, I really liked him immediately. They tell me he is very good. May I ask why you cancelled? I haven't seen any other surgeons as he came recommended by the dr that was taking care of my hernia so I trust his judgement when he said I should go to Dr. Kini. Why...you know something I should know? lol Thanks for the welcome Cheri, Shara and Jane. I've been reading many journals about WLS and some make me scared to have the surgery and some are just so inspirational I feel like I'm going to bust!! I feel right about having this surgery I know I will feel better about myself and feel so much better physically. I mean 100 lbs of extra weight is alot of baggage to carry 24/7.

I cancelled because of my work schedule. But, I may re-schedule. I have gone to a few seminars in NYC. Just want to be prepared, and make the right decision. My dr actually refered Dr. Bessler at Columbia. I agree this whole thing is scary sometime I say " am I crazy", so many mixed emotions. But, I read this board daily, and it inspires me!
